I've had a Kindle Keyboard with lighted case that I've been pretty happy with for a couple of years. However, I'm thinking of upgrading to the Paperwhite for the improved display. Is it worth the price, and is there any trade-off in battery life?

I know pretty much nothing about the e-reader market right now, but I'm thinking about taking the plunge. Given my particular requirements, what is likely to be the best e-reader for me?

I've had an e-reader, but never a Kindle and never one with 3G. I understand the reading PDFs and mobi file part, but what else should I know about: what the 3G is good for; apps; hacks; subscribable Kindle-optimized content; the Kindle ecosystem? Besides Instapaper, are there other convert-stuff-to-read-on-your-ereader things I should know about?

I want a cheap e-reader for reading longform articles in bed. It must work with Readability or InstaPaper or the like. It does not need to do anything else like games or surfing the intertubes. I have an iPhone for that. Do I want a Kindle?

I am looking to purchase an e-ink reader... Been looking at the Kindle and Nook and I am having trouble deciding. One of my top priorities is that books I purchase not be lost in 3, 5 or 10 years down the road. Which device is most likely to be be future proof? I also have specific uses that I want it to work for such as being able to load PDFs of academic articles/books and access to the library (see extended explanation for more uses). Thanks for your help!

I'm considering purchasing a Kindle DX, but the current version is two years old and two hardware generations behind the regular Kindle. Is there functionality in the newer versions of the regular Kindle that I would miss when using the Kindle DX? Is it likely to be replaced or discontinued in the near future? Is there anything else that I should know about before buying a Kindle DX?

Where's the best place online to gather simple reference lists and charts to transfer to my Kindle 2, likely as PDFs or monospaced text? Stuff like US presidents and World Series winners, with enough basic info on each line to fit the screen's width. Is there a site that specifically has stuff like this for the Kindle? Google searches for "Kindle reference "and "Kindle lists" don't really help. Thanks.

What's the best device for reading and annotating PDFs? I'm trying to decide between a tablet pc (maybe the Lenovo X220T), a netbook fitted with a PixelQi screen, an Entourage Edge, an OLPC, or some sort of e-reader. Any other suggestions, are of course, welcome.

Kindle3 or Color Nook or Samsung Tab or just sticking with dead trees? I've been reading so many reviews, forums, tech support, askme posts, that my head is spinning and I don't know what to think. The new Kindle and Nook are supposedly vastly better than their predecessors, so I'm hoping mefites with new holiday toys might be able to shed some light.

I really love the
Power Moby Dick site, which gives very helpful annotations and puts obscure words and expressions into a modern context. Where can I find more of this for other classics? And most importantly, I want to find formats that can be downloaded and viewed on my Nook e-reader.

What's the best / easiest way to process / format material I've downloaded or copied from the web to read on Apple's Books app? On a Kindle? If I format for the Kindle, would the material be synced on both devices if I use the Kindle iPhone app as my reader? I've been using Calibre to rip ePubs, but there has to be an easier way than what I'm doing, which takes forever.

I've been giddy with excitement and waiting anxiously for my kindle 3 ever since I ordered it a month ago--and then yesterday I read
David Pougue's review and the comments to his article. Now I am sad and depressed. They are saying horrible things like when you buy the eBooks they don't really belong to you and you can't share them and worst of all I won't be able to read the eBooks from my public library on the kindle. Can this be true? Should I just pack up the kindle and send it back? Woe is me.

Cost aside, should I swap an iPod Touch + NYTimes app with a Kindle + NYTimes subscription? My iPod Touch is too distracting; a Kindle would be less so. On the other hand, I love the free NYT app.
