I've downloaded the correct driver (version 8.61) off epson.com to get my new Epson NX430 printer to work with Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion on my 2011 Macbook Pro, but the printer still only works when the USB cable is connected. It won't work using WiFi, even though my Internet connection seems to be fine.

Is there a way to run an annoying program (Epson Scan in this instance) so that it doesn't obliterate your desktop? Any way to force it to use less processing power?

My museum is about to set off on a big slide-scanning project. After finding out how much it would cost to outsource the scanning, we've decided to just buy a higher-end scanner and throw an intern at it. I'd like some guidance as to which scanner to buy.

I have an Epson 1660 scanner, and a transparency unit that came (from eBay) without the medium-format mask. Is there anywhere where I can get one of these, or can I make one myself?

Scanning question: I have Epson Perfection v350 photo scanner. It can scan negatives. I would like to scan one long strip of negatives. Do I have to cut the film into 6 frames strips? Film is not mine and I would rather not have to. I have an option of Auto Film Loader and I can scan first 6 pictures, but I don't know how to tell the scanner to load the next six.

I'm looking to sell them, but before I do, I want to make sure that they are still good and will work.

I'm thinking of making a small mockup booklet on my desktop printer, an Epson 1290. The pages need to be double sided, but when I flip the paper over in the printer and print the other side, the prints on each side don't line up correctly, normally being about 5mm out.
I'm using Mac OS X and I can print in almost any format but will most likely be using Adobe PDF, Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign.
Are there any clever tricks to remedy this?

My graphic design office needs a new printer, and we're trying to decide between a
Xerox 7400DN color laser (actually LED) and an
Epson 4800 Pro inkjet. We print primarily (maybe 90%) 8.5x11 and 11x17, about evenly between color and black and white, with a few 13x19 pages. The Xerox is limited to 12x18, which means we would have to re-work some templates to get them onto 12x18. The Epson prints up to 17" wide, which I'm sure we'd use once in a while. Duplexing (printing both sides at once) on the Xerox would be nice. The Xerox lists for more money, but we can get it for about the same as the Epson ($2500).
Any general thoughts between color lasers and inkjets in general? I know the inkjet has the ability to print higher quality, but is much slower than the laser. Anything else?

I have an Epson CX5200 multipurpose printer. It needed ink cartridges, so it sat idle for a while. Now I need to use it and the color of the ink catridge that I replaced (yellow) is only appearing in thin bands.
I've tried cleaning the jets, printing page after page of a 75% Y block from Illustrator and so far no change. Anyone have any fantastic tips?
