The seas are rising. Climate change has made it inevitable. I have a strange question... Assuming that world sea-level rises by 1 metre over the next hundred years - Would it be possible to cordon off a section of land, somewhere in the centre of a continent, and flood it to create an artificial ocean, thus reducing the consequences of the sea rise? I am trying to put together a list of environmental eco-friendly sites targeted from young children (kindergarten) to grades 3-4, and 4-6. Looking for anything interesting that has stats, games and so forth. Appreciate your time and input. I need a lot (30 plus...even if you give me one, that is a help)

I've been reading a little about the cicada thing going on and I was feeling a little left out, since they're not gonna really visit us in Seattle too much. It seems like the cicadas and the El Ninos and the tornados and floods never focus on us. Thankful as I am, does anyone know of any environmental event that I can look forward to here (you know, besides that 10.5 earthquake that's been plotting to knock over the Space Needle).
