It better shine It better cut I know it is expensive but

I'm looking for an inexpensive imitation/simulated diamond engagement ring style piece of costume jewelry. I'm thinking under $150, a metal that plays nice with sensitive skin, princess cut solitaire on a silver/platinum color band. Is there a company you can suggest? Anything to look out for? I know it won't look real to anyone who cares - I don't care - I just think it'll be a fun trinket to put on from time to time.

I need advice on selling a diamond engagement ring.

I've been divorced for 4 years now, and I think it's about time I get rid of my engagement ring. It's a 1.5 carat solitaire in a big hunk of white gold, so rather than chunk it down the sewer, I'd like to see about getting some cash out of it. I've done a lot of reading about different ways to do this (pawn shop, consignment, diamond broker, online site), but I'd like some advice from anyone that has successfully sold fine jewelry. Creating an engagement ring with diamond pave on the INSIDE.

The entire diamond industry is an immoral, ad-led con job believed by idiots. That said, I don't want to be the jerk who skimped on the ring. But I certainly don't want to show anyone that I've acquiesced to that nonsense other than her. Help this scrooge design a ring I don't hate. [more inside]

engagement ring bargain hunting?

We're hunting for an engagement ring. My girlfriend really likes something like this or this -- an emerald stone held in place by a silver band that curves around the stone. Would it make sense to buy the ring and stone separately and have Gemvara fit the stone? [more inside]

Trusted Engagement Ring Insurance?

Hello MF! I am recently engaged and need to insure my fiancé's ring. The ring is simple with a 1.2 ct. princess cut stone. The ring is appraised at about 10K give or take. I am looking for advice on which companies AskMeFi users have had experience with as most of the reviews that I have read on jewelry insurance seem negative and most people just have an axe to grind because something didn't go their way. Any success stories out there? Which insurance companies would you recommend? I would prefer a company that specializes in jewelry insurance and not a rider on my homeowners policy. Thank you in advance!

Where can I go to try on emerald and sapphire rings in Los Angeles?

I'm trying to suss out my own taste for engagement ring purposes and would like to try on emerald and/or blue sapphire rings to see if I like them as much in practice as I do in theory. Where can I do this in the greater L.A. area? I would prefer not to go to the downtown jewelry district (again), but if someone can recommend a shop there with emerald and sapphire rings IN STOCK to TRY ON and not just loose gems or settings separately, I'm open to the idea. Clueless about jewelry. How do I take care of this diamond ring?

I am a woman who has never, ever been into jewelry. I lose earrings, I tangle necklaces, I hate the way anything feels on my wrists. The only pieces of jewelry I treasure are a relatively inexpensive pair of earrings I wore at my wedding, and my wedding band and diamond engagement ring. I've been married for nearly two years now, and need some advice on the logistics of caring for my engagement ring. [more inside]

Gemstone Engagement Rings

Does anyone have any experience with aquamarine engagement rings? If you have experience with aquamarine engagement rings, how do they look? How do they hold up? What do you think? (I understand that aquamarine is beryl, the same material as beryl, which is supposed to be somewhat softer than the sapphire/ruby material, which in turn is very hard but not as hard as diamonds.) How should I re-make my engagement ring?

I received an engagement ring that used to be my grandmother's. Photo here and here. I love this ring! I would keep it exactly like it is, but I'm a manual therapist and so I'm touching people all day - this ring is SO tall and scratchy. Right now I'm taking it off when I work, but I'd like to be able to wear it at work. How should I have it re-made? Please assume I know nothing about rings, weddings, or jewellery design. Which ring adjuster for an engagement ring?

I am now wearing a shiny new engagement ring (yay!), but it's sliding a bit more on my finger than I'm comfortable with (boo!).
