I can do the job, mostly, really

I have a tricky job-application scenario: basically, I can do all the requirements that were advertised, but I have excellent reason to believe they expect the person in the position to semi-regularly do something my health prevents me from doing at all. How do I handle this in the application/resume process? [more inside]

The new employee is sketchy, and only I know it.

I just started a new job as a researcher. They hired a few people around the same time as me and we all have start dates around now-ish. I've been there a week. There is a new guy starting in my department in a more senior position than me, but not supervising me, on Monday. I just got his name today and looked him up, and... there are some things about him that a little bit of digging uncovered that are sketchy. (It's definitely him, please give me the benefit of the doubt here.) His job is not likely to be impacted by these revelations about his recent past, but if it were to get out that his history includes these things, it could endanger my company's reputation if a competitor or journalist found out. Nothing he did is illegal. [more inside]

You thought "Official Use Only" included porn? For real?

You thought "Official Use Only" included porn? For real? I was entrusted with a laptop owned by the public sector (recent employer). I let a friend use the laptop to do writing work while his computer was broken. I deemed this acceptable because at no time did he have access to employer's VPN-protected data. However, it would appear that he downloaded pornography. [more inside]

Conflict at work, how to handle it

I work as a graphic designer for a small retail production company in a very rural area. We're a very tech-centric company with about 10 employees, and 4 core players: myself, two other managers and the owner. All of us are from the city, and the owner, one of the managers and myself have been friends since before I came to work for the company (I'm closer friends with the other manager than I am with my boss, but we all met online)...
