Spreadsheet vs. Database?

I've been using a spreadsheet (actually, three or four different spreadsheets....) to keep track of names, contact info, and task completion for a large number of people. Easiest way to extract e-mail from the body of thousands of e-mail addresses?

Long story short, I lost my contacts from an old e-mail but I have their e-mail/details in the body of invoices that I forwarded to my current address. I've been copying thousands of e-mail out out by hand, but am realizing I'll have carpal tunnel before it's done. Is there a way to do this short of hiring someone to write a script? Tried forwarding e-mail to Thunderbird, but the extension that looked like it might do this doesn't search the body of e-mail https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/email-address-crawler/ Also, looking into autohotkey, but am under time constraints. Grateful for any pointers here!

Looking for a social media tool that allows visitors to our website to sign & send a pre-written email (and to possibly add their own comments or edits as well, but that's not 100% necessary) to a group of local politicians. Email solution for an older person with (minor) dementia.

My grandma has been socially reliant on email for a decade or so now -- she emails her sister, her children, and her grandchildren. Unfortunately, she's forgetting things now (she's 93), so what used to be possible for her now seems less so. What to do? [more inside]

Gmail + Thunderbird = spamfree email?

Gmail + Thunderbird = spamfree email? I use gmail (via google apps) for my small company's email. While it is generally good, the inability to permanently block a sender (e.g. businesses who won't remove me from their spam list) is frustrating, especially when the senders keep appearing in the daily quarantine report. Could this be solved by using Thunderbird as an IMAP client (and “whitelisting” the senders in Postini so they don't appear in the quarantine report)? Is there an easier or more elegant solution? TIA.
