I use Digsby for checking a bunch of old and secondary email accounts on my Windows system, but that program seems to be defunct and several email accounts no longer work with it. Anyone know a good alternative? [more inside]
I am interested in being alerted if and when jailbreaks to iOS 6.1.3/4 and iOS 7 are released, but I have no interest in the daily news about jailbreaks on the legitimate sites like iphonehacks.com or developers' twitter accounts. Is there an RSS feed or email service that will alert me if and only if a legitimate jailbreak is released? [more inside]
Like most impossible things, it seems like it should be simple. Basically trying to figure out a way to do project management via email with Outlook which is syncing from Google apps via MAPI / Google Apps Sync. I get an email, I put it into a folder, which then gives my colleague access to read and respond to that email in the same folder, and vice versa. Can it be done? All the juicy details inside. If my work email inbox changes, even slightly, my anger meter goes immediately to 10, and I spend entirely too much time being grumpy and fussing about it. How can I reframe these annoyances as opportunities for zen and personal growth, instead of a blood rage that leads to ultimately futile quests to have everything exactly the way I want it? Why do some of my emails in my Gmail account no longer exist? [more inside]
My company's email domain has apparently been triggering spam-blocking filters at other companies sporadically for the last several months. We're not in the habit of sending out spam emails, so I need to find a way to uncover where any spam is coming from, stop it, and get ourselves off of whatever blacklists we're on (preferably without paying unreasonable ransoms for the privilege). Over last weekend I spent a whole bunch of time with a lovely woman--dinners, picnics, walks, wine under the stars etc. These weren't explicitly dates, but it all seemed pretty romantic. At the end of the evening on Saturday and Sunday we had these awkward pauses when my insecurities and my desire to--give a goodnight kiss? Express my attraction? Or something--were warring. I don't know what she was thinking but it was awkward on both sides. Now I won't see her for a month. Do I email her and explicitly say that I'm interested? [more inside]
A while ago, I came across a handy little program/script, which I think worked roughly like this: you give it a table of various friends' names and how often you want to stay in touch with them, and at appropriate intervals it will give you a "hey, you haven't emailed Jeff in 3 months" type reminder. Lavabit's Ladar Levinson was recently quoted as follows: "I'm taking a break from email. If you knew what I know about email, you might not use it either." Why would Levinson warn other people off using email? He's not just saying, "Be careful how you use email," but, "It's probably a good idea not to use email at all. I'm taking a break from it myself." [more inside]

How do introverts handle communication in environments where the receivers do not value email or consider it worth replying to? I find tracking people down to ask questions and make requests face-to-face or over the phone very disruptive to my work pattern (intense concentration for long periods of time) and very inefficient. I would much prefer to use email since I would consider this far less disruptive to both my workload and the recipient's workload. They can answer at their leisure, but I still expect an eventual answer if I ask a direct question (even if it's "I'm too busy to answer at the minute"). [more inside]

My Dad received a spam email purporting to be from his email provider (BT Yahoo, fwiw) asking him to verify his account. In a moment of utter stupidity, I fell for the scam and entered his email password into a bogus website (I know, I know: STUPID). I was using his iPad at the time, and a ransomware website opened in safari, however the browser didn't lock, and I was able to close it straight away. I immediately logged into his email account and successfully changed his password to something completely different. Google tells me that there is currently no ransomware which can successfully hijack Apple devices, which my experience seems to bear out. I am a bit worried about the risk that I've accidentally compromised his email, though. Is there anything else I should do beyond what I've already done, ie changing the password? Should I contact BT Yahoo about it?

Adam, a member of a team I manage, sent an email incorrect blaming me for work they couldn't complete. I'm a big fan of dealing with things one-on-one, but I'm not sure how to respond when now that other people have been brought into it. When I send a reply referencing my previously emailed instructions, should I reply-all and let everyone know this isn't my fault, or should I just hit reply and not worry about everyone else? Father-in-law's got hacked/virus. He's been sending out one-link emails to all his contacts. I went into his webmail for him and changed his password to something a little more secure - but his contacts aren't stored there (and neither's his sent mail), so it's got to be his machine, right? But I've done the full Deezil and found absolutely nothing. Not a sausage. So, where can this little nasty be hiding? He's running 64-bit Windows 7 with an up-to-date Norton AV. His mail client is windows Live Mail.
I have over 10 years of sent email sitting in a folder. Are there any tools (preferably for OS X or *nix, but anything interesting is welcome) that I can use to generate interesting statistics, or draw pretty graphs, word clouds... basically anything interesting that works on a huge number of emails.
I'm curious as to what the protocol is for police being able to access the email accounts of someone who has gone missing. If the person has no living relatives to grant permission, can the police still access the missing person's email? How many days does someone have to be missing before the police are allowed to read their private emails?
Early last week, I had a meeting where there were two people from my organization, and three people from an organization we're hoping to work with in the near future. At the end of the meeting, we agreed on a future date/time for our next meeting. The following day, I emailed everyone in attendance, with (our shared impression of) the date/time/location of our next email in the second sentence of the email. Today, it became clear that everyone on their side of the meeting thought it was supposed to happen today, and I thought it was happening tomorrow. How should I respond? [more inside]
A few years ago (2008?), I set up Google Apps for my domain. I used it for email, docs, etc. Eventually, I deactivated the account. Now I'd like to go back and recover some of the emails. I can login to the admin panel, and can access Google Drive, but I can't get to the email. Help! [more inside]
I applied to this job online by sending my resume, and after I was contacted by the HR lady, I told her that I had an updated version of my resume and so I sent it to her. A few days later, I then realized that I actually sent a wrong copy of my resume, which leaves off some of my education. It also erroneously outlined a job function that I did not actually do. The reason why it is wrong is because I didn't know how to word it precisely at first, but after a second draft (the correct version) I came up with a better description of what I did. So, do you guys think it will be fine if I email her the correct version of my resume and explain that I inadvertently sent her the wrong version? Or will it look bad? The interview is already set up by the way. Thanks.
If you've used Vertical Response and something else, which one would you use now? I am proficient at sending e-mail newsletters for clients. I want to combine the two spreadsheets to create one spreadsheet while keeping the column called "unsubscribed" so I know which people to keep permanently removed. Can you advise me on how to synchronise these two spreadsheets using the cellphone number as the common data? Thanks!
My Gmail account was very definitely hacked on Sunday. A whole lot of email was sent, seemingly to everyone I've ever corresponded with from that account. There was clearly a login from Poland which corresponds exactly with when the emails began to be sent. The session seemed to last about 7 minutes. I then received about 150 "mailer daemon" emails due to the bounces from either old addresses, addresses which don't receive unsolicited email and mail servers which correctly identified the content as spam. Looking for sample business emails to improve my writing skills. The resources I found are typically for writing to clients or customers. I am looking for sample emails that one writes mostly internally within their own company. For example an email one would write to make a suggestion, disagree with something, ask for status, share an idea, remind someone politely, coach someone etc (Common business scenarios). Not looking for emails to win business or sell anything. Would appreciate if you could share web links or books (preferably the ones available at amazon.com). Also, I would like examples and not a resource that just gives guidance.
