Opt in to a mailing list via a link

A good friend runs a business which is very different to mine, but with probably 80% customer overlap. She sends out a very popular e-newsletter once a fortnight. For a long while I've wanted to send an e-newsletter too, and it would be useful if the people on my friend's mailing list could be offered the opportunity to easily join mine. [more inside]

MX Servers / DNS Zone File question

I have a domain name hosted by GoDaddy. For a year or so now I've not had a website, I've just had some DNS settings which 1) routed my email to gApps using MX records and 2) allowed me to use Jabber through the domain name by pointing the XMBB [more inside]

Gmail hacked - lots of spam sent - nothing in sent items

My Gmail account was very definitely hacked on Sunday. A whole lot of email was sent, seemingly to everyone I've ever corresponded with from that account. There was clearly a login from Poland which corresponds exactly with when the emails began to be sent. The session seemed to last about 7 minutes. I then received about 150 "mailer daemon" emails due to the bounces from either old addresses, addresses which don't receive unsolicited email and mail servers which correctly identified the content as spam. mangled email signature...

Why would a PNG, sent as part of an email signature, look compressed and distorted and generally horrible when included again in the recipientĀ“s reply? [more inside]
