I manage a small network of users, and currently we are using Google Apps for our domain, and getting mail via POP. I'd very much like to fake IMAP access to Google by creating an intermediary/shadow account (either on our web host, or on our local Apple XServe running OS X 10.4 Server) and configuring it like so: 1. Set Google address to forward automatically to shadow account. 2. Set desktops to check mail through shadow account, but send email through Google's SMTP servers, to keep conversations in tact. This is driving my family bonkers: Mom is on OS X (Tiger) using Mail APP. Mom sends X an email. X replies to email. X's reply comes back to X. (ie, My mom's emails substitute the email address of the person she's emailing in the reply-to field.) [more inside]

I was just contacted by my company's ISP saying that our company's account is compromised by a virus as phishing emails have been sent out from here. I find this very hard to believe as we are an all-mac shop and I am fairly confident that these phishing emails generally spoof headers and such. Am I wrong? [more inside]

A sudden increase in spam making it past my email client's filters. I'm on a Mac using "Mail" for my email program. Up until three days ago, my junk filter caught all but a couple of spam emails. Now, for some reason, about ten times more spam emails seem to be making it past my filters. Any ideas why this is or how I can get back to a better signal-to-noise ratio?

is there any way to "sync" email between a mac and a treo or blackberry device? might it be as simple as configuring an IMAP account?

i don't want to manage my email remotely only to come into the office and have to do it all again. and if i send important email from the road, i want it in my "sent" folder on my desktop.

please say yes - i really want one of these babies.

Tidying my email: Over the years I've developed hundreds of different folders for messages. They're currently all in Mail.app's MBOX format. I want to sort them into one big gmail-style archive folder, and get rid of the many, many duplicates.

Is there any way to automate searching for the duplicates?

mac/entourage prob: there's an email address that I cannot send to. Whenever I try and send something to it I get a msg: "Relay Access Denied". I have no probs with any other addresses. The address is for a discussion list and is css-d@xxxx.xxx-xxxxxx.org (of course just replacing the letters with ex's as it's probably poor to post the address here). Any ideas why it won't let me send? (It's not bouncing back, it won't leave my outbox). I receive emails from this address no prob.

What's the best (free, easy to install, doesn't hog resources) emai list software for OS X?

I've been running Macjordomo, but it is buggy and hogs resources, slowing down my machine. I manage about 10 local lists, with not more than 20 members of each list.

I thank you, MeFi gestalt...
