How can I fix dead lines on the screen of a Canon Wordtank IDF-3000 electronic dictionary? Or, can you suggest an affordable (sub-$120) kanji-enabled Japanese-English electronic dictionary as a replacement? [more inside]

I'm looking for an electronic dictionary to help out when visiting Taiwan. I've found reviews of Japanese models but not much for Chinese ones. Can anyone recommend somewhere that will help, or perhaps a particular brand or model to go for?
