My client is late paying me. Plus, I am concerned about how they are (or are not) using the products and services I am providing. Should I stop providing those products and services and send a late notice, or somehow give them the benefit of the doubt for a while longer? I want this client to succeed at their endeavor, but I don't want to be taken advantage of either, whether intentionally or not. [more inside]

I'm looking for a listing, preferably something with citations of the actual state laws, of when each state changed it's laws to allow for the direct election of electors in the electoral college.

I have recently read Chomsky's "Hegemony or Survival"; in it, he sights this article , which investigates voter apathy in the 2000 elections, and the surprising figures about how little surveyed voters knew about candidates' policies. The information for this article comes from the Vanishing Voter Project, which no longer exists. Is there any site where I can find out about these sort of subjects in the 2008 elections?

Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies: I am sick and tired of this American election cycle. My biggest frustration, especially in the presidential debate: When a candidate lies outright, no one says 'You're a liar.' Why not? [More falsehoods inside] [more inside]

Can someone please explain why a candidate gets all of the electoral votes in a given state if they have the majority of votes in that state?
Wouldn't it be more sensible and accurate to allow electoral votes to be distributed according to the percent of votes carried by each candidate in that state?
Am I missing something?

Excuse my naiveté: is Bush vs. Kerry the first modern presidential contest between two members of the American equivalent of the aristocracy? Call them patricians, preppies, rich kids, "old money", members of the upper or property-owning class; whatever. What does this mean, if anything? It looks significant seen from old Europe. [Given that Kerry is, like the Kennedys, a Catholic, I suppose WASPs no longer mean much in this respect.]

A serious question: for which euro-friendly Democratic candidate in Iowa should we pro-American Europeans root for? Which one is less isolationist, less likely not to speak Spanish, French or Italian, more pro-EU, more cosmopolitan and, to put it mildly, more civilized?

We've seen how Internet has been used effectively in several national political campaigns. I'm wondering if this can be efficiently adapted to smaller races (city/county/state). I'm also on the lookout for any online resources that would facilitate mounting a serious campaign; advice on tactical matters, budgeting a campaign, opportunities to exploit and pitfalls to avoid, networking with like-minded individuals, novel ways to reach out to voters, etc. [more inside]
