Is there any consensus as to whether serif on sans-serif fonts are easier on the eyes when using e-ink based readers?

I am looking to purchase an e-ink reader... Been looking at the Kindle and Nook and I am having trouble deciding. One of my top priorities is that books I purchase not be lost in 3, 5 or 10 years down the road. Which device is most likely to be be future proof? I also have specific uses that I want it to work for such as being able to load PDFs of academic articles/books and access to the library (see extended explanation for more uses). Thanks for your help!

I'm considering purchasing a Kindle DX, but the current version is two years old and two hardware generations behind the regular Kindle. Is there functionality in the newer versions of the regular Kindle that I would miss when using the Kindle DX? Is it likely to be replaced or discontinued in the near future? Is there anything else that I should know about before buying a Kindle DX?

What's the best device for reading and annotating PDFs? I'm trying to decide between a tablet pc (maybe the Lenovo X220T), a netbook fitted with a PixelQi screen, an Entourage Edge, an OLPC, or some sort of e-reader. Any other suggestions, are of course, welcome.

Anyone with experience in electronic readers, such as the Sony Reader? I have an extensive collection of textbooks in PDF format and tired of sitting at my computer to read them.

I've been lusting after the
iRex iLiad for a year... and I'm starting law school in the fall. I'm trying to convince myself that I can use it for my reading for class (as well as my recreational reading). Anyone have one and want to share experiences?

E-ink devices, have you tried one ? How does it feel ?
This guy was rather disappointed with Sony Librie.
This chinese company apparently produces (and sell, where, who, how much ?) two functional clone without the DRM bull. That'd be a nice xmas present for geeks.
