Black and Yellow Orb Weaver Spider Egg Sac relocation

This summer we had a lovely black and yellow orb weaver (named Agnes) set up on our porch. She hung out for a few weeks, ate heartily, and ultimately laid a nice egg sac in the corner of said porch and died/moved locations. The Catch: We may be moving soon and I don't want the sac to be destroyed by the next owners. [more inside]

Animated video about conception, narrated by Laurie Anderson?

Once upon a time, probably decades ago, I saw a short animated video about conception. The sperms came barreling toward the egg and I believe Laurie Anderson narrated the gripping tale of how would you feel if you were the egg under this attack. I can't find any reference to this little gem on Ms Anderson's wiki and I'm sure I did not dream it. Have you seen it? Did someone else narrate it? Can you find it anywhere? Thanks for your consideration.

Making the perfect breakfast scramble

Help me potentially recreate an amazing breakfast scramble (lots of veggies!) I had last weekend, as well as perfect my general scramble technique! Last weekend I had a life-changing (or at least breakfast-changing) egg scramble at J&M Cafe in Portland, Oregon. It had: three eggs, leeks, mustard greens, parmesan cheese, mushrooms, and, joy of joys, whole cloves of roasted garlic. It may have helped that I was still bleary-eyed and mildly hungover, but it was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Now I want to make it at home! [more inside]

Did I just ruin these egg noodles?

I just made a quadruple batch of egg noodles (some to use tonight, some to freeze). I forgot to put salt in them (it's called for in the recipe). Will it affect the texture at all, or is the salt optional?

Fun variations on fried egg on toast?

I'm attending a Ghibli-themed potluck this weekend, and I've volunteered to bring fried egg on toast from Laputa. However, I have two reservations. First, 20+ people will be bringing food and a full slice of toast + egg per person is just too much. Second, egg-on-toast is only really good when hot and freshly made. So I'm looking for suggestions re: variations (in either letter or spirit) on egg-on-toast that a) are portionable, and b) will stay delicious past ten minutes! [more inside]

Forgotten craft article

Half remembered craft article - a cute gift made with an egg. You pricked a normal egg, sucked the contents out, then bored a little hole in it. You could then roll up a nice little note or something, slip it in the hollow eggshell, then conceal the hole by making the egg spotted - sticking circular stickers on the egg including one covering the hole. I think the egg was also spraypainted gold. It was a pretty cute idea, anyone remember this? [more inside]

Death by Pie?

Can-I-Eat-This-Filter, Thanksgiving edition. Assembled an apple pie tonight, planned to bake it tomorrow morning, but accidentally put the egg white wash on the top crust tonight. If I keep it in the fridge all night and bake it tomorrow morning, it won't kill anyone, right? The wash is just egg white thinned with a little water, and I didn't put very much on before realizing my mistake. Thoughts?

How to start a nest egg?

Now that I have a little extra money, how should I start saving it? (I don't have a 401(k)) For instance, what's an IRA and why should I care? Or what about this thread talks about high-yield savings? Or this one about index funds? While I *am* young, I'm mostly concerned with creating a nest egg, not playing the stock market (read: I'm more interested in low-risk that will hopefully allow me to afford a family and eventually retire). Thanks!

burping sulfur rotten egg smell

My husband has been burping with a sulfur/rotten egg smell attached. He also complained about being very gassy. I looked on Google and every article posted was from 2004. This is only the second time in his 42 years that he has experienced this. It usually lasts for 1 week. He takes high blood pressure meds, with high cholesterol meds. He needs a fast remedy, any ideas. Right now he is taking Peppermint Gels w/ginger and fennel oils (2xday) Thanks.
