Looking for Mythology Curriculum Given in Grade School in the Seventies

Trying to identify the mythology books I was given over the summer in grade school in the mid-seventies. They were definitely curricular, I think even had characters like Sam (a boy) and Nip (a dog), perhaps there was a girl named Jane but I may be confusing her with the other series we all know. I'm not a teacher, just want to re-visit them for nostalgia's sake. [more inside]

Fifth grade appropriate, positive, and catchy songs that have some enriching or interesting vocabulary?

I've been trying to help my wife with this over the last week. She's looking for "school-appropriate, positive, and catchy songs that have some enriching or interesting vocabulary." They have three main requirements: 1. The lyrics have vocabulary and other literary devices that they can use as teaching points. 2. The song is "catchy". (something 10- and 11-year-olds and their teachers will enjoy) 3. The song has a positive message. [more inside]

What should I do with this year to increase my chances of teaching next year?

I am just finishing up a phd. I'll be defending in September, getting the actual degree in October (I hope). I'd like to get a job teaching English in a private high school, but obviously I'd be applying for the following school year, not the year that's about to start. So what should I be doing this year? I need to support myself, of course, but I'd like to do so in a way that will make me more attractive to schools. I already sub at one school, and am planning on trying to get on the sub lists for some other schools. But is there anything else? What are some short-term or part-time means of employment that school administrators would like to see on my resume?

What will my school district do with me?

I am a technology specialist for a large public school district. In my school, I am a "prep" teacher. Classes come to me, the teacher leaves, and I have them for 50 minutes. Last year, for various reasons, I developed a phobia of being alone in charge of 25-30 kids by myself. I kept seeing danger to them and being unable to help. I took a leave from the middle of April through the end of the year. I tried to get an ELL position; that's my other license. ELL is small group and/or co-teaching and I would be just fine returning to it. [more inside]

An app to demonstrate econ policies' efficacy? (helping to show extern)

Conservatives in the U.S. seem to inherently assesses economic policies based on the personal ethics (as in, self-reliance) involved, not on overall benefit or harm to the society.
