I want to find work as a film editor in the UK. Would it be better to find a permanent job, or freelance? Would I need an agent? If so, do you have any recommendations? [more inside]

I love my 9-5 editing job, but as a certain hobby becomes viable as a (very small) part-time job, I need a much more flexible schedule. How can I quit while guaranteeing that my fellow editors then hire me as their writers? [more inside]

Turducken said it concisely: "When (most) freelance writers want to have a family or buy a house, they get jobs as... editors." I am wondering just how they (we) do that! [more inside]

Job title: editor to ____ ?
I work with an online publishing company and I started out as a editor/production editor. Recently, I've started to learn Flash and more HTML, and basically the goal is to add more multimedia/design to my role. They want to create a new job title/position for me. (I work on a team of SMEs and instructional designers, and there's one multimedia developer that works with us a few times a year.) What job title should I recommend/ask for? If you can't tell, my boss isn't particularly tech-savvy or that knowledgable about the field.
