When I attempt to Edit Document Text using Acrobat X Pro on a page I often need to alter, all I get are squares in place of the letter/numbers I'm attempting to type. The original font on there is Verdana (screen shot here) and this occurs on both my computers. I have Verdana in my font directory and I'm on Windows 7. Any ideas? Thanks.
I would love to learn Autodesk 3ds Max (my goal is to use it for 3d architectural and product visualization) and Adobe Premiere Pro (I need to study the technical aspects of editing and hopefully move on to other offline and online NLEs). I fear at this point in my life, it might be too late to embark on such career-changing endeavors, especially that the learning curves for both these programs are reputably steep. I saw a pinterest item recently: the person took a large US map and cut photos from each state into the shape of the state, then overlayed the photo on the map of the state. The result was a US map with a photo standing in for each state. This was done by cutting photos by hand. Is there an easy way of doing it on the computer?
I am unable to work because of disability. I collect SSDI and while I get food stamps, I only get $17/month, which doesn't go very far. Since I went on SSDI in 2010, I've tried various ways to supplement my income, but I have yet to come up with anything reliable. Budgeting is not the problem; there simply isn't enough money. Authors Of AskMe, has this happened to you? During my self-imposed creative hiatus over the last year or so I conducted a lot of research into what would be my dream project. A project I could be passionate about, the kind of book I'd really want to exist. So I made a list of every thing, character, concept, idea, sudden kind of twist I'd like. I have three notebooks of this stuff. I cross-indexed it and included all my references. I have an astounding about of detail on what I want to put in and touch on but no actual story. I keep staring at it, like it's a list of SCP entries, and I can't think of a damn thing for anyone to do with these collected items, places, motifs, themes, and people. It's frustrating cause I can come up with quick pulp narratives on the fly for stuff I'm not working as hard on but every attempt to break and outline a rising action for these people results in rapid breathing and complete brain fume-lock. I keep asking "What does the main character want?" and coming up with nothing. Is this common? Is there a resource for this? Can I pay someone to go through these ideas and find something that other people might want to read? [more inside]

Hi everyone. You may or may not have seen this popular "vine," called Turning Juice Into Candy. Here are a few more short clips by the same guy, using the same method: Time Change, Throwing Things Through Computers, Making Real Goldfish. I'm basically familiar with video editing software (I assume these were edited with Final Cut Pro or After Effects), but I can't quite figure out how the guy did this. He obviously filmed each shot twice (at least) and blended them together somehow, but the camera *seems* to be both moving and handheld in each shot, which *should* make the shots "unmatchable." But even when I slow them down and watch them frame-by-frame, the match seems exact and I can't figure out precisely how he did it. Can anyone who's familiar with video editing explain this? Thanks!

When I edit a document in Word 2010, I use Track Changes and insert comments (using balloons to call them out). 90% of the time, authors and I work back and forth without having to print these documents, but occasionally, printing them with the comments visible (i.e., with the balloons appearing in the right margin) is necessary. I'm using PowerDirector 11 to make a fan edit of a movie on DVD (not for anyone else, just for myself). The first few VOB files were a dream to work with, no problems whatsoever. However, when I added the third VOB file it's only playing the DVD's commentary audio, not the actual film audio. Is there some clip setting in PowerDirector to change that? Many thanks!

I use WordStarter 2010. I'm editing footnotes in a manuscript for a client, and have discovered to my great dismay that WordStarter 2010 doesn't have footnotes enabled — I can change the wording in existing notes, or delete them, but not add new ones or renumber existing ones. Does anyone have any suggestions for a work around that won't involve my having to buy Microsoft Office?

During the past year, I have inadvertently become a freelance editor. I was wondering if any of you have some advice for me about getting disability and extended health insurance (I live in Toronto, Canada so I basically just need to worry about "extras" like dental and vision care, medications, etc.), and if you've got any other tips for me about finding work/promoting myself and managing what is in effect my own business.
