I'm trying to e-mail a couple of .mp4 videos to my girlfriend's LG G3 Android phone. The first one worked fine, but both of my attempts of the second video are apparently an "unsupported file type." I'm trying to make a 24x36" poster from some Excel tables. They're somewhat complex -- half-finished example here (Flickr link). I exported PDFs from Excel and used Inkscape to arrange them. I (project manager) work together with my wife (film editor) in a shared office. I like music while I work and she doesn't. One of us needs to be able to hear and respond to the real world, while the other needs not know it even exists. What headphones would be best placed to provide a high level of audio isolation, given the nature of sound in film editing (sometimes quiet), be comfortable for long periods and have a good audio range?
O hai! I'm a Google avoider. I've managed to not use Gmail, and to stop using Google as a search engine. I do have a Google account, but I use a separate browser to log into that, and log out and close the browser when I'm done. Sometimes I have to edit a document that contains many instances of the same proper name, such as a story about a person named Scheindler. Is there an easy way to get Word (or another program that I could paste the document into) to indicate any instances that are clearly trying to be Scheindler, but aren't (Schindler or Schiendler or Sheindler)? When I edit a document in Word 2010, I use Track Changes and insert comments (using balloons to call them out). 90% of the time, authors and I work back and forth without having to print these documents, but occasionally, printing them with the comments visible (i.e., with the balloons appearing in the right margin) is necessary. I applied for a job in my field recently at company B and just noticed that I left in a sentence from a previous application in my cover letter that mentions the name of the company I'd previously applied to (company A). Whoops. I'm in a fairly small field and company A is one that people have mixed feelings about mainly because they have lots and lots of money and publicity. I need to copy text between a commercial text editor (TextPad 6.1.3 by Helios) and a home brew program used by my company. When I try to do this now, the highlighted text is moved/cut rather than copied. Is there a Windows 7 or TextPad setting I can use to force the behavior to copy rather than cut the text? I'm using PowerDirector 11 to make a fan edit of a movie on DVD (not for anyone else, just for myself). The first few VOB files were a dream to work with, no problems whatsoever. However, when I added the third VOB file it's only playing the DVD's commentary audio, not the actual film audio. Is there some clip setting in PowerDirector to change that? Many thanks!

I use WordStarter 2010. I'm editing footnotes in a manuscript for a client, and have discovered to my great dismay that WordStarter 2010 doesn't have footnotes enabled — I can change the wording in existing notes, or delete them, but not add new ones or renumber existing ones. Help Me Be A Good Web Editor! Please? Hi! The media outlet where I work has recently started a news web site, and I'm the editor. I have several lengthy documents I'm editing for a book. The author scanned his hard copy and ran the result through an OCR program. The OCR omitted most of the periods. Is there a way to make Microsoft Word 2000 or OpenOffice Writer 3 put the periods where they go, or am I doomed to putting them in as I edit?
