I want to give it a video and say "cut this into clips of 30 seconds/10 minutes/whatever" and have it spit out the clips as movie files. Is there an OS X app that can do this? Or some way to do it with automator? [more inside]

I have a song I composed / recorded / etc. I'd like to make simple video by cutting together fragments of public-domain films with this song. I have a MacBook. How to get to point B? iMovie is crashing on every import. [more inside]

What is your fav. text editing OS X application? I need syntax highlighting for as many languages as possible, S/FTP, among most other common funtions (line numbering, block un/commenting, block indentation, etc). The best on the PC in my opinion is UltraEdit, nothing i've used on the Mac comes close. I'm currently using TextWrangler but I miss much of what UltraEdit offers. Any suggestions?

Audio editing on OSX: I have a 30 minute long .aiff file that I'd like to break into separate tracks and convert to mp3. I know that iTunes can handle the .aiff -> .mp3 conversion. Is there software that can do the 1 .aiff -> 6 .aiffs part? Or one that can do 1 .mp3 -> 6 .mp3s if I do the conversion first?

Photoshop CS (OSX) books for almost-beginners: I'm hearing good things on "Photoshop CS Bible" by Deke McClelland.
Photoshop CS (OSX, too) for professional photographers: I'm hearing good things on "Adobe Photoshop CS for Photographers: Professional Image Editor's Guide to the Creative Use of Photoshop" by Martin Evening.
Any other suggestions? thanks
