We're getting our kitchen counter measured today for a new black Silestone countertop. We need to make a decision before they get here: what kind of edge bevel to use. I'm wondering if there is a consensus on a 45 degree bevel versus squared off (or squared off with a very small rounded-off edge)? We don't want it to look dated.
The counter being replaced is a simple large 8'x26"' rectangle -- no weird angles.

I'm remodeling my kitchen and have had an island built that is 2-level. The main counter is granite and the second 'bar' level for people to hang out at on bar stools is as yet undefined.
I'm looking for some advice about what kind of surface I can put on the second level. I'm very interested in wood and was thinking 'live edge'. It would be about 24" x 72".
Is this something best purchased from a supplier or is it a moderately DIY project from a tree cut by a tree service? Difficult to maintain? Easy enough to find? Suppliers north of Boston?

I'd like to incorporate a bit more edginess into my work look (I work in a creative field, and as a lady, I want to project a bit less sweetness and a bit more edge). What are some ways I can do this? Open to any appearance-related suggestion-- clothing, hair, makeup, accessories, etc.-- with the exception of satanic face tattoos. [more inside]

What is the tablet with the smallest border? Are there any where the screen goes all the way to the edge?

What's the best device for reading and annotating PDFs? I'm trying to decide between a tablet pc (maybe the Lenovo X220T), a netbook fitted with a PixelQi screen, an Entourage Edge, an OLPC, or some sort of e-reader. Any other suggestions, are of course, welcome. [more inside]

I am considering switching to the iPhone 4, which of course means switching to AT&T. I have never been on a GSM carrier before, and my home and office currently only get EDGE instead of 3G data, so I have some questions. [more inside]

I'm considering switching to a Safety Razor. What's the difference between Open Comb and Closed Bar? I've never seen these and scouring the internet has yielded no real usable explanation. [more inside]

Ecommerce, Shipping, Programming: I am setting up a warehouse for my burgeoning ecommerce business and am designing custom coded shipping workflow. I am also shipping orders from this warehouse for two or three other online stores in different shopping cart platforms, and need to streamline the orders together into an efficient packing and shipping operation. Here's an example shipping setup that I'm moving towards.
Please refer me to resources or people to hire (more detail below). [more inside]

I've got an unlocked iPhone (first-gen) running 1.1.4. Currently, I use AT&T's PAYG w/ Unlimited MediaNet to get unlimited data for $20/month. I'll soon be going to the UK, and I'd like to set up a similar arrangement. I'd like some advice as to how to accomplish this. [more inside]

Slightly weird one: I occasionally get what I think is a psychosomatic sinusache. It seems to be induced by looking at a sharp edge or point, and perhaps happens to me once every one or two weeks. I'm wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this, and/or has any input into what's going on (mentally or physically) and any fixes or things that alleviate what's going on. As always, [more inside]

T-Mobile's Unlimited International Email add-on for BlackBerry currently offers data service in "90 countries and locations." Is there such a thing as a single map showing these 90 countries and locations? If not, what's my most efficient way to make one myself?

My (non-existent) ideal device is a Treo -- with wifi, GSM/GPRS, and either EDGE or HSDPA -- on a service plan that includes flat-rate unlimited data, flat-rate international data roaming, and a small amount of voice usage inside the U.S. (say 100 mins/month). So, in the real world, is a Blackberry 8800 on T-Mobile my best choice for a plan starting in spring 2007?
