How long does it take Triamcinolone to start working?

I have this crazy rash thing on my legs, started a couple weeks ago with a small patch and has gradually spread. It is blotchy and itchy and generally unpleasant. I finally went to the doctor on Friday morning and was diagnosed with eczema and prescribed Triamcinolone, 2x a day for up to 2 weeks. How long should it take to start helping? Because my blotches are still spreading! [more inside]

Attn! Eczema sufferers, is there a place in the US like Avene-les-Bains?

I suffer from eczema and am at my wit's end. My wife posted this question about it last year and I am now considering packing my bags and going to France to sit in some mineral baths to soothe my aching skin. My question is: Is there a hydrotherapy center for eczema sufferers here in the US so I don't have to travel as far? [more inside]

How should we handle carpet beetle dermatitis?

About a month ago, my partner began finding (what look like) insect bites scattered all over her body. They itch intensely but intermittently. We checked for bedbugs and found no evidence, but keep finding carpet beetles in our bedroom. My partner continues to find new bites, and it seems like she's getting them at night. Have you had any experience with "carpet beetle dermatitis?" Any telltale signs to help differentiate this from bedbug bites, ezcema, fleas, etc? Most importantly, what did you do to get rid of them? I want to smell nice. I have eczema. How can I do this?

I've been diagnosed with eczema for several years now. I'm fortunate not to have a bad case of it and I don't get many flares, but I know it's partially because I'm very careful about avoiding triggers - I use fragrance-free detergent and soap, I use Cetaphil moisturizer, I take brief, lukewarm baths, I even wash my hair with my head upside-down so the scented shampoo runs off my head instead of down my back. However, I miss using scented lotion and body spray. Is there anything out there for eczema sufferers? [more inside]

What's up with my skin?

Unfold your hands, child, you sleep like a peasant.

I have dyshidrotic eczema on my right middle finger hich seems to be exacerbated by my habit of sleeping with my hands between my knees/lower thighs. Gloves would only add to the heat and moisture. Extreme eczema

My partner suffers from a bad case of eczema. She is itchy on her neck, back, and arms nearly all of the time. She has tried every dermatologist, creme, lotion, potion, out there. The main culprit seems to be lanolin. Mild cutaneous lymphoma: any experience with this?

A dermatologist confirmed today, based on the results of two biopsies, that I probably have mycosis fungoides (a mild cutaneous lymphoma). It's patch-stage, and he says it's the mildest case he's ever seen, and he's referred me to a specialist. I understand (based on a weekend of nail-biting research and his confirmation of the research) that it's usually not a big deal to have this, but I'd like to hear from people who have experience with it. School Uniform for an eczema sufferer

Eczema School Uniform. My daughter has quite severe eczema and we're finding that the school uniforms are making her itch even more than usual, as they are not 100% cotton. Looking to you guys to help me find 100% cotton uniform items for her. She needs a shirt, Navy pinafore and white knee length socks. The main problem i'm having is finding a Long Sleeve shirt for her, those i've found so far are too big for her. She 5 now but is quite small for her age. Have thought about getting shirts made for her, but not sure if it's feasible? Any help appreciated.

Andropause or hypochondria?

I am about to turn 40, and the last couple years have not been great for me physically, so if this is middle-age, then I don't want it. In my case, the problem is dry skin, which has plagued me more or less all my life, but looking back, it seems like in former decades it was a relatively minor annoyance compared to the scourge it has become. baby straight jackets?

Our itchy baby can only sleep if we swaddle her securely. By securely, I mean we have to wrap her quite snuggly, safety-pinning the stretchy cloth to prevent her from wriggling out and scratching herself awake. Nonprescription or herbal eczema remedies?

Eczema. I get it on my face and sometimes behind my knees, and I generally treat it with prescription cortisone cream from my dermatologist. Lately, though, it's not working so well, and it occurs to me that maybe slathering myself with this stuff isn't such a good idea in the long term. Do any mefites have recommendations for nonprescription or herbal remedies? (The signal-to-noise ratio on Google is darn near impenetrable on this topic.)
