Shopping cart software to work across multiple domains? I want to create a series of niche sites, displaying only a couple of products each. I want a e-commerce engine that I can create to centrally manage pricing, the payment and shipping calculations, and inventory across all the sites. Ideally it would also create customized emails, etc relevant to each domain. [more inside]

Can you think of any examples of a retailer that has both a chain of physical stores and a "shop online" section? I've been helping out a friend who owns a knitting store with his website, and now that he's expanding I think we need to rethink the way his site works. I'm just wondering how other people organise things like stock levels when more than one physical location is involved. [more inside]

Can someone help me get started with recurring payments (receiving them, that is). I've got access to Miva Merchant. Will that help? I know Paypal can handle recurring payments, but I'm inclined to believe there are better and cheaper ways.

I need my customers to send me confidential data with a payment. I work for a regulatory agency that currently collects applications in paper based form with a physical signature including a check for payment. We would like to implement a industrial strength 'e-filing' solution. Where do I start? My Google-Fu and Delicious-Fu are failing me. I need to find information on 2009 best practices for capturing data ( e-forms, rest, edi ), identity management, security ( digital certs, etc ), and payment gateways ( direct debit, credit cards ). I also need to know what vendors are leading in these spaces. I am not really looking for a 'e-commerce' solution. I am looking for a 'secure electronic forms submission with payments and non-repudiation' solution. My company would need to host this in our data center. I would like to offer my customers multiple ways to submit and pay.

I have an idea for a ecommerce web site. I am currently a web application developer, and I ran an ecommerce site for a few years so I have a great concept of the nuts and bolts. I just wanted to ask for help because I am likely to be weak on the business end and design end of things - I have no clue how to start a business or design an entire website from scratch - let alone do in part-time on top of a full-time job. My wife has designed and produced several items of clothing for girls which are available online. She's interested in getting her items placed and sold through specialty shops and boutiques. She is trying to determine the best way to go about this without breaking the bank. (For example, the expense of a booth at a trade show is outside of our budget).
She's thinking about working with an independent sales representative and/or cold calling shops directly. [more inside]

I want to create a website that has collection of accessories for a particular gadget. Lets say a Zune. Users can go to my website and see all available accessories and perhaps reviews. I want to add some affiliate widget or something so that it will show places where you can buy this accessory.
Does anyone know who offers this service?
Maybe if the user clicks through my website and buys an item from that estore, I get a small kick back?

I've been tasked with finding an e-commerce consulting company to help guide us (we are a wing of a fortune 500 company) through the entire e-commerce process. Not so much creating it necessarily, but more guidance/consulting.
My google-fu is yielding all fluff. Ideally, looking for "Company X helped Barnes & Noble switch to an online storefront" type of info, so I can back up any suggestions I might be able to make.

Simple e-commerce solutions. I have a fully built site, with individual webpages pointing to specific product items. I simply want to add a backend shopping cart functionality that resides on the server, without relying on PayPal. If you were a web developer who needed to set up a subscribers-only section of a website, where the subscriptions are paid for online (credit card and possibly PayPal), and auto-renew by default, how would you go about it? Would you find a payment gateway that handles auto-renewing subscriptions and use their API to build a little checkout app? Or find an off-the-shelf cart that supports such a gateway, and just set the cart up and enable the gateway? Or is there an altogether better way? [more inside]
