How to make a product catalog?

I'm looking for tips on making a product catalog for a website, but not a fully fledged online shop. What options are there? I'm building a website for an acquaintance, who is a local dealer in car cleaning products. He wants to show (a selection of) his products for sale, but doesn't actually need or want an online shop.

So, preferably, I'd like to have just the product catalog part of a webshop, but without the pricing and checkout parts. Are there any solutions out there that allow this? Or is it really something I should think about programming myself?

SEOFilter: I'm no pro at this, but check out the footer here. Is this crazy strategy of any benefit when it comes to location-specific searches? One would think so, but I've never seen such an exhaustive, derivative list of pages before.

Help me find an ecommerce solution for digital products!

I need an ecommerce solution for digital products - something that will email my customers a download link to their orders the instant the purchase is complete. What service or software can you recommend? I'm creating a template site for those folks who dig my design work but can't quite afford my personalized services. The more automated the purchase process can be, the better. Other features I kinda need:

* Time and download limits: "Your order will be available for X days and may be downloaded X times."

* Quantities. Most of my templates will be unlimited, but there will be a premium selection that can only be ordered once.

This whole thing is a work in progress, so I'm flexible on payment methods at this time.

As for me, it would be awesome if what I'm looking for were free, but if you know of a good solution that will cost me, I'll check it out, too.

Yahoo Store design firm recommendations?

1) Client insists on using Yahoo Store because they're comfortable with it and have a decent relationship with Yahoo. 2) Client's current Yahoo Store design firm is lethargic about any changes, even when they're responsible for breaking them in the first place. 3) Does the hive mind have any recommendations for a new design firm that can implement some (modest, mostly back-end for metatagging and on-page content updates) changes quickly?

Need an artsy yet simple web design firm in NYC

I'm looking for a small, arts/music oriented web design firm to design a webpage for a retail shop with web sales (preference for firms located in NYC). Any recommendations? I don't need/want any crazy flash animations, just simple, classy, musical, yet somewhat hip, if that makes any sense. Just for reference, I very much enjoy the look and feel of the Enja Records website.

How can I get a shopping cart with ajax-based product previews?

If I wanted an ecommerce site powered by something like <a href=” http://www.oscommerce.com/”>osCommerce and I wanted some additional functionality built that gave product previews via ajax, similar to what NetFlix does, where should I look for a programmer to set it all up and about how much should I expect to pay?

Two related ecommerce questions:

1) Are there any internet payment methods besides PayPal that are gaining market share? 2) Are you aware of any web services that handle the fulfilment side of selling intellectual property (e.g. download & payment collection)? If it makes any difference, I'm in Canada and server is Unix and in USA. Thanks!

Explain credit card processing

How does my client accept credit cards online? I'm a web designer, and I'm building a book site for an author. She would like to sell her books through the website. I don't know how to set up online credit card processing.

She definitely doesn't want to use Paypal or any other service where we have to send people to another domain for processing. She'd like for the entire thing to happen on her site, and she will ship out the books. Whatever I set up, it needs to be fairly inexpensive.

I figure we need a secure certificate, a credit card processor and some sort of database to store the transactions and keep track of purchasing/shipping. Does that sound about right?

I've looked at shopping cart software (OSCommerce, Zen Cart, etc.) and I understand basically how it works. I don't understand how the live online processing works. Is this some software the cc processor provides?

So here are the questions: how does it work? What do I need? Who do you suggest?

Need ASP ecommerce solution.

I need a good, cheap (free) ASP shopping cart application for Windows 2003 / IIS for a client website. Normally, I would use osCommerce, but for some reason they want everything ASP, etc. Any suggestions? Your help is fantastically appreciated. A search reveals a previous inquiry with the suggestion of OrangeCart. I would like to have other options as I was not altogether impressed with OC.
