How can I promote my eCommerce website?

I have a site that I have started a few months ago. It is a site where I am selling random stuff right now and seeing what works. I have had some conversion from Reddit posts that got a few thousand hits so that seems to be helping but it is not always reliable since you never know what is going to go viral. Also, I'd like to open up more channels for selling. The problem is that acquiring visitors can be expensive. Does anyone know of any reasonably priced ways to generate good targeted traffic in 2015? I am not looking for SEO as an answer. I am interested in promoting the products on this site and getting conversions. I am still working on improving the site but I already know that it can convert at a reasonably good rate so my problem now is just acquiring visitors at a reasonable price.

What's up with ecommerce these days?

Shopping cart solution for physical goods without a subscription fee?

I'm a clothing reseller and would like to branch out from eBay to my own e-commerce site. I don't currently have the sales volume to justify a monthly subscription fee to a service like Shopify ($30/month). I do have a domain name, access to cheap webhosting with Wordpress and other CMS platforms, and a decent amount of tech knowledge. What are some free or very cheap solutions in 2015 for hosting a shopping cart on my own site and accepting credit card payments with per-transaction fees, preferably with a minimal amount of coding and fuss?

Why aren't top commerce sites using AOSSL?

Question for the hard-core commerce and security geeks: Always-on SSL, or AOSSL. Last spring The Online Trust Alliance, or OTA, started a PR campaign to convince folks who manage web sites to use SSL to secure the entirety of their web sites — not just forms and checkout pages. OTA points out that some large social sites (Twitter, Facebook, Google) — folks for whom the customer is the product — have implemented AOSSL, or are in the process of doing so. Who I *don't* see coming on-board are large and highly trafficked e-commerce sites. By my survey, none of the top 100 eCommerce vendors (using Internet Retailer's list) have implemented AOSSL, and I'm wondering if there's a reason why... (more inside). [more inside]
