I was awakened at 6:30 am by around hundred people - some in robes carrying large banners - and a band with loud drums, all proceeding down my street and singing something in a foreign language. What was it all about?

Hi, having recently returned to my home state of Indiana, I'm noticing things are still a bit different here (e..g it's like the last state in which you can't buy alcohol on Sundays). So I'm wondering if this is Hoosier specific too. Everything is closed today (excepting some restaurants). Is this a national thing? Has it always been so, and I just never noticed? Christmas, sure. New Year's Day, yep. But Easter?

Homemade Easter gifts. Preferably edible - my friends and family are, like me, wretchedly gluttonous fiends but prefer the not super-processed or over-sweet stuff, so if it's got token fruit or something in then even better.
I just realised there's like a week to go and I have no idea what to make these people. HALP.

Is anyone familiar with an Easter puppet special that was on (I think) HBO in the early '80s? I remember that it involved a bunch of bunnies working in an Easter egg factory, and that the Easter Bunny ("E.B.") was fairly nervous and might've had a Woody Allen-esque delivery. It definitely isn't "Tale Of The Bunny Picnic" (though that looks pretty cute, too).
Bonus points if there's a streaming version anywhere online - I'd love to show this special to my bunny-obsessed niece. Thanks, all.

Where is there a Thursday Pre-Easter Holiday? I met an Asian tourist today who asked whether banks, libraries, and schools would be open on the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday before Easter. When I said the only "holiday" was Easter Sunday, he said that 15 yrs or so ago he visited the US and remembered these days as holidays. Now I'm curious. Does anyone know where in the world this might be so? I told him that some churches might hold special services on those days, but that wasn't what he remembered.

Visiting Paris during EASTER. I heard the whole city is closed. I have been advised to go to the Jewish section of Paris, but it will be Passover. What can I do that day? (any advice about what to do on other days or what not to miss would also be appreciated)

I'm in the US, my partner is in Melbourne AU. In a very last minute arrangement, he is picking up his 6 year old daughter for Easter weekend. Does anyone know any way that I can get some Easter goodies (a traditional Easter basket, preferably) delivered there in time? I would likely need to accomplish this online.

Looking for advice on travelling in Italy during the Easter season. This is our frist trip there, and we'll be there the week before and after the holiday. Planning to fly into Rome, out of Venice with (hopefully) a stop in Florence in between. How does the holiday affect our ability to get around, find rooms, and places to eat? More detail inside.

So every Easter my family has an egg cracking contest using hardboiled eggs. You pair off with a partner, smash your eggs together, and whoever's egg does not crack goes on to the next round until you are left with one winner. My question is, why does only one egg break? They never both crack, no matter how they are smashed together.
