I stopped wearing earrings for a couple years due to grabby baby hands, and now my ears hate me whenever I try again. I haven't bought earrings since high school, either, so I think I need to level-up from Claire's. What kind of earrings should I buy, and from where? I just want simple studs or hoops, is there some kind of basic earring supply website in 2016 where I wouldn't need to buy in bulk?
It seems like there’re plenty of stores with $15 earrings and stores with $500 earrings, but I’m having a bit of trouble finding stores with jewelry in that middle ground of like $50–$250 (ish). Basically, I’m looking for stores with jewelry that I could potentially wear every day but which won’t fall apart after a year or two. [more inside]
I have my ears pierced and don't want them to grow in. I want a small (or even tiny) pair of earrings that are pretty and subtle (so that they match everything) and flat (so that I can sleep in them and they won't bug my ears or head) and affix in a way that they'll never ever fall out. Ages ago I bought a pair of hoop earrings from Lane Bryant (of all places). They were about 3" in diameter and they were fairly substantial/sturdy/heavy - I think they were made of sterling silver or thick surgical steel. I have since lost one of these earrings and am looking to replace them... [more inside]
I got my ears pierced more than 20 years ago. Within the last two years or so, every time I wear earrings, they start bothering me after six hours or so. When I take them out, the area around the piercing is swollen and hard but does not hurt if I push at it, and the actual piercing may have a bit of dried blood. Because of this, I haven't been wearing earrings more often than once every two or three weeks, so that may be contributing to the bleeding (I often have to poke and prod a bit to open the pierced hole all the way to get an earring through). What should I do to be able to wear earrings regularly again? [more inside]
I have a relatively small (but growing) collection of jewelry that's currently being stored haphazardly across a range of hooks, pouches, boxes and drawers. Various big plans (set out all the necklaces nicely in this place here) have fallen by the wayside in the hustle-and-bustle of working life. If you're a naturally untidy/ absentminded person, have you found a storage system that keeps your jewelry safe, accessible and in good condition, but that's easy and low-maintenance enough to keep in practice? So I asked a question recently about making jewellery. I would now like to ask how much of a difference there is between buying a cheap kit of four types of jewellery pliers (for about ten quid) and buying individual items. Is it worthwhile looking hard for the good quality ones, or will the ten quid variety pack suffice?
I'm looking for a particular style of earring. I'll post an example but I'm not necessarily looking for an exact copy of that pair -- just something that matches certain criteria, which I will list. [more inside]

I feel naked without earrings. But... I have an earring retention problem! I am constantly losing JUST ONE earring, meaning that the only earrings I end up holding on to are the ones I don't like. Help me replenish my earring supply and support local artists! What are your favorite Bay Area spots for cheap (<$20 a pair), cute, locally-made earrings & accompanying jewelry? Any good street fairs that reliably sell cute stuff? Funky, big, unique, dangly, subtle, you name it! (I know I could go the Etsy route, but jewelry I buy online never looks like I think it will - I prefer in-person shopping.)
I work as an air conditioning mechanic, and with my head stuck in operating electrical machines all day I have a mind to switch to non-conductive earrings. I have 6ga or 4mm earrings. I used to have a pair of glass earrings but they eventually broke when I dropped them. Is there any reason I should not use glass stirring rods to make a new set of glass earrings? I am assuming I can use a torch or buns en burner to bend them and finish the ends.

Where can I find the star stud earrings featured in this Ellie Goulding video? They appear to be shaped like 5-pointed stars, have gems at the base of each triangle, and one in the center. My wife loves starry earrings, stud earrings, and Ellie Goulding, and I would love to get them (or a reasonable clone) for her. [more inside]
After seeing Ai Weiwei's sunflower seed exhibit at Tate Modern in London with my girlfriend earlier this year, I was inspired to translate the afternoon into a thoughtful Christmas gift. Earrings hurt and itch--what to do? I have a new pair of pearl earrings with 14k gold posts. They--alone among all my other earrings--hurt and itch literally within minutes of putting them in. I really love these earrings--is there anything I can do? I've heard that coating with clear nail polish might help, but I've also heard that it might not.
In search of simple black earrings (pierced). They can be small hoops, studs or wires. Not necessarily onyx or obsidian - could be rubber, for all I care, but definitely not pearls. I'd like something kind of like just the hoop part on these. If combined with metal, preferred color is silver.
