I have an appointment to see an ENT doctor next week because of vertigo and ear pressure/pain. I have a strange symptom that I wanted to ask about before I went. Basically, can optical illusions make my ears hurt?

Is there a pillow out there that won't hurt my ears and won't puff up in my face?

My odd, chronic jaw & ear symptoms are growing ever more uncomfortable and crazy-making. The specialists I've seen are stumped. I'm hoping the AskMe-verse might have heard of this, or can offer some suggestions, advice, or support.

It's only in my left ear, and mostly only when the room is very quiet. At first it would only happen in the car after we turned the engine off. Now it happens all the time at home if I don't have music on to drown out small noises like my typing or talking or the pings of IMs.

I went scuba diving for the first time today-- I´m in Mexico, so it was at a resort. They gave us a pool training session and then took us out on the boat-- I believe our final dive was at 45 meters.
The trouble is, I had a hard time equalizing my ears on the descent, and at the bottom I still wasn´t entirely comfortable pressure-wise. I kept going though (maybe unwisely) and felt ok for the duration.

Why do my Grado SR325 headphones cause my ears to hurt? If I wear them for over half an hour, I get pain from my earlobe around to the jaw joint. It's not related to ear infection or anything specific, because I've experienced this a number of times. I read in a related question that some suggest the headband be bent out, but I don't see how to do that on this model without breaking it--its flexibility wouldn't seem to support it. The weird thing is they don't feel tight when I wear them; it's just that, after a while, I start feeling persistent pain.

Have had barotitis in one ear (basically ear drum is sucked in and there's fluid built up behind it) since a Thursday afternoon flight. Flying home tomorrow. Anyone flown with this? Does it hurt a lot/suck?
