What is the best way to sell (and accept payment for) a finite number of identical items (50) on the internet? I expect the items to sell out reasonably fast, and so I'll need to be able to take orders as they are received, and stop accepting payment when the 50 are sold. [more inside]

Tomorrow I'll list my ACER Aspire 3680 for sale on eBay. I want to be as sure as I can that there the lucky buyer has as little chance as possible of seeing passwords/pics/personal info. Normally, I would just format and do a clean install of XP. But I've moved house and my install disk is one of 19 packing cases stored 2500km away, so that option is out. I've listed what I've already done after the jump, but I'm hoping a more tech-savvy mefite might spot a hole in my erasure efforts. [more inside]

Interested in buying and then selling stuff. I am running into two (and I assume, very common) problems. 1. The high quality stuff I find tends to be too expensive to buy. 2. The cheap stuff I find is really crappy. I know in order to make money, you need to buy low and sell high. But, this seems a LOT easier in theory than in practice! What am I doing wrong? My father and I are looking to sell his 1969 m151a2 Army Jeep. It's in good condition, but we're in a town that only has so much selling potential (Birmingham, AL). Putting it on Ebay seems like an obvious choice. I was also thinking of putting it on craigslist for towns that, though far, might include some willing to pay more to have the jeep transported. I've googled about for websites selling Army jeeps but haven't come up with much. Do you have any suggestions for selling this? Online or offline, overall, we'd just like to get the best mix of convenience in selling and price. I just acquired a vintage, fully working Sony reel to reel video tape deck, circa 1973. This deck is from the dawn of the consumer video market.
I have no use for it and would like to sell it. Of course the 1st market to sell it in would be EBay, but I've had less than great results with obscure stuff like this.
Does anyone know of a more topically-appropriate place to advertise this item for sale?
