a question for lovely comic book geeks. I have a complete run of Grant Morrison's Animal Man
, in pretty much pristine condition (all still in plastic wraps). They were a fun read, but I don't collect comics and know nothing about collectors of comics. I was thinking of just dumping them, but then became aware that I could probably sell them on eBay or such. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth my while to do so - is it? How much might I get for it - how much should I offer if I'm going to try to sell?
My father has asked me to help him set up an eBay store for some estate sale type items and I'm looking for current advice on all things eBay. [more inside]
An electrician told me that I need to replace the main breaker on this board. He wasn't sure where to find them. I'm hoping someone here has an idea what kind this is so I can try to get it replaced. I live in Austin,TX, so either online or near here.

I will be in the USA for exactly three weeks in July. I've been looking for a SIM card option (for my unlocked Nexus 4), and it seems like most people recommend the T-Mobile $2 or $3 per day unlimited texts/calls/data option. I also saw a deal from Spot-Mobile that looks better: it's $39.99 for a month of unlimited texts/calls/data, with the first 1GB of data at 4G speeds and free $10 credit for international calls. I'm a little wary, though, because I basically can't find any reference in forums to travellers using Spot-Mobile, or any reviews of them. Their coverage map looks fine, though. Also, I can't tell what their data speed will be for me, since my phone doesn't have 4G. Will it default to 3G or 2G for that first 1GB? Has anyone had any experience with Spot-Mobile? Would you recommend this plan? [more inside]
I'm selling comics on ebay and have no idea what to put for shipping. Media mail seems not to allow comics, flat rate box seems good for 25+, but the padded envelopes seem like overkill for small batches, I'm just not sure what to put. [more inside]
Hello all -- I had purchased an expensive antique item from a US seller on Ebay about three weeks ago. (I asked him to opt out of the GSP, but he insisted that he didn't want to opt out of it. Since this antique item was a rare collectible that couldn't be purchased anywhere else, and since I haven't used GSP before, I decided to go along with it (despite hearing all the negative accounts of GSP on the internet). I was charged around US$85 for the GSP "import fees" on the ~$500 item. [more inside]
There are a few low value items I am interested in on eBay. They seem to be popular so I would like to use a sniping service to try to win them. How do I do this? I assume that they might need my user name and password or does the service use its own account? What companies are trustworthy?
Bonus: I generally use my iPhone/Pad so iOS friendly would be great.
I'm tying to help a family member sell a bunch of stuff. He lives in rural Northern California and I don't particularly want to deal with ebay myself. What are my options? [more inside]
Yesterday I put up an unlocked iPhone 4s on ebay for sale. It literally sold in about a minute. This old phone sold at the price it was originally purchased for. I sent the buyer an invoice. They paid it with another minute. For this old phone, that's about 3 versions behind.
This makes me leery, especially since the email from ebay says SHIP NOW. Shouldn't I wait for money to appear in my Paypal account? Is it odd that this old phone sold so quickly at such a high price to buyer in the continental United States?
If it's legit, do I really ship NOW?
Someone hacked a PayPal account to buy an item from me on eBay (my old iPad). PayPal resolved the claim in our favor and we both got our money back, but now I want to go after this derelict. I want justice! For me, for the person that owns the PayPal account (who I talked to and she's very nice), and for anyone he might rip off in the future. [more inside]

I'd like to sell my desktop computer. I built it in 2011, with intermittent upgrades. It was fairly powerful at the time, as I used it as an engineering student. Specs are below. I got an offer on Ebay for something I listed months ago. I accepted the offer. An email from Ebay says that as soon as I have the funds, to mail the item. But I don't have the funds yet. Am I doing something wrong? I feel like I'm missing something. [more inside]

I foolishly lent my digital camera for what was meant to be a short time and is turning into an indefinite period. I need to list some stuff on eBay and Etsy. I would like the cheapest reliable digital camera for this purpose. (I don't have and won't be getting a smartphone (at least not in the immediate "would like to sell things on eBay soon" level of future), so need a stand-alone camera.) [more inside]
Mr. Christa and I are downsizing to a smaller apartment in Seattle. Mr. Christa has admirably agreed to part with some of his comic books. He thinks selling on eBay would be best. Neither of us, unfortunately, are experienced eBay sellers. eBay USED TO have a listing of "trading assistants", who would help you sell and take a commission. Does anyone still offer this service? Can you recommend someone to help us "grade" (apparently that's a big deal) and sell the comics? [more inside]
I bought an item on ebay, and didn't receive it. Tracking shows it was returned to sender about 10 days after shipment, from a post office in my state, but about 100 miles away. I followed the ebay instructions for what to do when a purchase was not received, contacting the seller by opening a case. Seller agreed to just give me a refund rather than re shipping. Now they say I need to declare the case resolved before they're able to issue the refund. This can't be right, can it? [more inside]
Well, I do have a little knowledge, but it is years past. Basically, I am trying to find out how to list camera lenses on eBay. Details inside. [more inside]

I sold a piece of electronics equipment on eBay for $130. The winning bidder, who has been a registered user of eBay since 2011, has a feedback rating of 1. The buyer promptly paid via Paypal. I dont see any indication that the buyer's shipping address is PayPal confirmed. eBay says I'm eligible for 'seller protection'. Should I ship it? [more inside]
I use eBay sparingly, and this time I appear to have a fraudulent bidder that won my auction. It seems like there's a bunch of steps that have to be done on the right days to handle this correctly... and that there's multiple values for "correctly". Help! [more inside]

I'm thinking of getting a Lenovo Thinkpad x230 to replace my aging laptop and noticed that Ebay had sellers with seemingly good ratings offering machines with higher specs than you can get in the Lenovo store for much cheaper. Is this too good to be true? [more inside]

I'm cleaning out my closet, and I've got a small number (~30pcs) of garments and shoes that seem of saleable quality. Do I have any chance of getting these things sold on Ebay without inordinate amounts of hassle and time? Or is the used-clothes auction business strictly for high-volume, full-time pros? If anybody's done this, I'd love to hear about your experience. [more inside]

Made bid fairly close to announced price, though a very little lower. Close of bidding not yet taken place. Now I find I can get same item elsewhere and with less costs and trouble. How do I officially take back my bid. Or do I simply not pay for item if I win it?
I saw a notice for a new site that was described as "EBay for Dummies" and I'm not able to find it again. It had the word "Simplify" or something similar in the title ~ anyone else out there see the notice? It'd be awesome to be able to sell my things without hiring a techie!

My phone contract is coming to an end, and I've decided I'd rather purchase an unlocked phone and move to a prepaid plan than continue in my current cell phone contract. I have an iPhone 4 but want to upgrade to a 4s or 5. It looks like I can get one on eBay for a solid $100-$150 cheaper than I can get one from the Apple store. Having a new vs. used phone is of zero consequence to me as long as it works fine and isn't stolen. Is it a terrible idea to buy a phone off eBay? What pitfalls should I watch out for?
I have a few things I need to eBay. I'm a very casual seller. For me the biggest pains are packing and shipping. Hints? [more inside]
So after years of using roommates' machines, and having finished a well-paying highly stressful recent job, I rewarded myself by buying an XBox Slim off of eBay. Which I guess was foolish of me. The thing arrived with only the 4GB hard drive, so I had to buy a decent-sized one in order for it to do anything, and even then it started freezing nearly constantly. If left off overnight it will start up and work for maybe an hour before freezing at first, and then quickly degrade to the point where it can't even start up properly. [more inside]

What could I write to the winning bidder of an eBay fashion accessory item on which I had intended to bid very high, but finally could not do by a glitch that prevented the "Bid now" window from opening in my browser. I am willing to pay them much more than they paid for the item, but is there anything I could say that would make them more willing to part with the item? What could a stranger say to you
in writing that would make you
even consider parting with a beautiful new purchase (when maybe a tidy profit over the price you paid was in itself not necessarily such a powerful inducement?) [more inside]

I sell and buy stuff like clothing or household goods on eBay without any problems, but whenever I try to sell computer-related gear I end up having a miserable time of it. Numerous apparently tech-illiterate shoppers and browsers message me repeatedly with basic tech-support questions that could be answered with a quick web search, and sometimes they then buy an item only to kick up a huge fuss and demand to return it, with me paying shipping both ways, when it doesn't work as they expect or isn't "compatible" with their setup (often seemingly due to buyer incompetence). Are there seller strategies for ameliorating this problem? [more inside]

In last year or so the real estate (sold houses and land worldwide) section of Ebay was very active and was full of ads. There are not many ads right now, practically nothing. What did I miss, did Ebay change some policy or did everybody migrate to craigslist or to other avenues? Any explanation from the realtors of the metafilter?

Three weeks ago I won the auction for a computer bundle on Ebay advertised as including a new desktop, keyboard and monitor. The price was pretty low and an excellent deal for all three. But the box arrived and there was no monitor. The seller says it was broken. He offered to send me another one but now just wants to give me some money back and call it a day. I am unhappy but don't necessarily want to leave negative feedback which could hurt his business (he has 100% positive feedback). On the other hand, I let people walk over me a lot and my gut feels bad about this whole situation. Can you walk me through this? [more inside]
