I had been using a mac to keep my media files and had been using "Ripit" to rip my DVD's and "identify" to tag the resulting files and put into itunes to watch on Apple TV.
Due to file space I have moved to a PC running Windows 7 to do this. And while I have found software to rip the DVD's I cannot find software to add the tags such as "synopsis", "cover art", and "episode details"?
You suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Me-Fi

I am looking for the best DVD (not Blu-Ray) prints of Silence of the Lambs and Manhunter. I know Lambs had a Criterion issue and regular issue, a 2-disc issue and perhaps more. Manhunter had a 2-disc issue (orange cover), a single issue, and perhaps others. I currently have the Hannibal Lector trilogy, which is all three movies in slimline cases with no extras. I am not sure if they are the same prints that come in single issue cases or if my prints are the high quality. When I say "best", I am referring to best picture quality first and then extras. I am not sure if newer issues lime my slimline set necessarily have the best picture or not simply because they are newer. My slimline set is just the bare bones movies, btw. So best print and if any extras that would be great. I know Criterion has commentary on Silence.

I've been trying to help him find it, but have had no luck. Anybody? [more inside]

I've been re-watching Mefi favorite Community
with all the commentary tracks and really enjoying it. So, I'm looking for other good TV shows (genre unimportant) on DVD that have commentary for ALL the episodes. Preferably a show that is complete, but that's not necessary. Most important is that every episode have commentary on it. Recommends?

Tried to play Avatar (PG 13) for the child via the DVD player and a sign came up saying Parental Violation. Three times. Tried a PG movie. No problem Tried an R movie. No problem. Never programmed for parental controls at any time. It's an old GE model, FWIW. Saves me from seeing Avatar, but I'm real curious what's going on here and fear for the future.

Seeking pros and cons of various DVD cases (box for 2 DVDS vs thick 'CD' type cases vs skinny 'jewel' cases). I have a lot of DVD's I've recorded. I want to keep in good condition, but how much difference do the cases make? I bought a couple of cases of apparently good 'boxes' from "effectuality.com" many years ago, since then some cheaper ones from Microcenter (Inland is the brand), not as easy to use but easier to buy small quantities. But I have discovered that [more inside]

[DVD/Blu-Ray Commentary Filter]What compels the star(s)/director/producer/whomever to do commentary for a DVD/Blu-Ray release? Are they paid for that session of sitting and watching the movie while miked up? Or are they just hoping for more sales for their share of the back-end? Or is this just out of the goodness of their heart (particularly on "anniversary" releases)?

I own the M*A*S*H - Martinis and Medicine Complete Collection
. Along with all of the DVDs is a thick booklet that lists all of the episodes. I've misplaced that particular part of the box set and I'm wondering if anyone knows how I can go about getting another copy of that? Is there some way I can contact the company(Fox) that produces this box set and offer to pay? Or is this something that I should just accept as lost?

Black 2.0GHz MacBook (2GB memory) from 2006
-- it's been repurposed as a Netflix playback machine. I have it connected to a VGA adaptor to a 19" widescreen monitor and it plays back Netflix in a browser and we also watch DVDs on it, and we also play AVIs with VLC.
The problem: video is just slightly choppy. Just choppy enough to be annoying. Tried Chrome and also Safari to do the playback.
How can I squeeze more video performance from this laptop to avoid the slight choppiness? I have a feeling if I can improve it just slightly that would be a big win.

Can you help me get my Cox Cable universal remote (M7820) to play nice with my Sony Blu-ray player (BDP-S380 / BX38)? Both Sony and Cox tech support tell me there are no remote codes in existence to program into the Cox remote. That just sounds ludicrous to me...what's up?
I know how to program the remote, just need the proper code.

What is the *best* way to download video from Itunes and the internet onto a blank disc? About a year ago, someone showed me a program or application that easily and elegantly took selected parts of an internet video (and I think an Itunes TV show as well) and transformed it into something I could play on a DVD. This wasn't just a kind of dragging and clicking operation but a specific application or program that made it very neat and easy. I need to do this with a few clips for a small presentation.
