How can I get files off an improperly finalized data DVD? (WinXP, Nero) [more inside]
I need a XP utility to convert some DivX files onto a DVD for my friends. Seeing that the quality is about the same as VHS, I would like to fit in as much as possible on a DVD without loosing even more quality. Any cool tools out there?
Whenever I insert a new disc into either my (internal) DVD drive or my (USB external) CD-burner, Windows XP Explorer refuses to refresh itself with information about the new disc: still shows the old disc's name, double-clicking brings up the content of the old disc (or tries to autorun), etc. Only thing that fixes the problem is to reboot with the new disc inserted. Why, and what's the solution?
The new DVD burner (an NEC ND-2510A), didn't come with any burning software. I know I can get the express version of Nero 6 for a couple bucks, but does anybody know of a good small DVD burning program (preferably freeware) for Windows XP that would be downloadable on dialup? Sourceforge and Tucows, my usual trusted sites, are turning up bupkiss.
