I want to copy a DVD of home movies to my hard drive (mac) and be able to watch them (and possibly upload them onto the internet). Copied the DVD files, but none of them will open with any of my current applications. Please help.

I'd like to burn .flv and .mp4 files to DVD for people without puters, to watch on US DVD players. What format do they need converted to (I can use VLC media player to convert them, if they need converted) and what is a good open source and/or free software to burn said converted files to DVD?

I need to get a few small .avi files burned onto a DVD that will play in a standard DVD player. Complication: I don't have a DVD burner. Are there any shops in Manhattan that will do it for me while I wait?

I need to convert a short VOB file into a reletively high quality, uncompressed MOV file... it's for my reel and I am having a heck of a time finding a way to convert it while keeping the sound and image quality reletively intact. I have managed to create an AVI and a MPG/MPEG... but they don't want to be good little children and convert to MOV's through the freeware I have. Help!

I am looking for a reliable and cost-effective manner to convert a single VHS tape to DVD. I don't have a camcorder or any other equipment to do the job and local shops have quoted me prices in the $100 range. I found several online set-ups that advertise in the $20 range, but I am looking for recommendations before I send the VHS tape off.

I have some mpeg4 (quicktime) video that I would like to convert to mpeg2 so I can watch it on my el cheapo Apex player. I am using OS X (Panther). Are there any free or cheap tools that will do this that won't make my head explode? I supplicated the Google gods and came up empty.

I have some old video tapes that I'd love to convert to digital video, storing the data on DVDs and/or my g5. Is there a good way to do this? Is it possible to transfer commercial video tapes in addition to personal tapes? I'm a video novice, but catch on quickly.
