Help me find the duffel bag of my dreams

I'm looking for a small Eastpak duffel bag made of a specific fabric. Last week, I sat across from a young lady on the train who had a small duffel bag that I would really like to find.

The brand was definitely Eastpak. It was small enough to fit in her lap comfortably. Based on the size, handles, and shape (it had sort of a half-circle profile, not a barrel shape), it may have been a Compact Small Duffel.

The straps were nylon but the bag was a different fabric; something with a softer touch, like cotton or flannel. It was plaid; the main color was light gray, and some of the lines were pale pink. There may have also been white or ivory lines.

The bag was in great condition, so I thought it might be new; but I haven't found any plaid or non-nylon Eastpak bags in any style, so maybe it was old. Also, in case it matters, I live in the Netherlands, so chances are she bought it here.

Of course, I could get the same bag in a different fabric/color, but I'm more interested in the fabric than in the specific style of bag. I've checked Eastpak's web site, Google, eBay, and eBay.co.uk, with no hint of gray plaid.

Looking for a sturdy bag.

I'm looking for a sturdy, high quality, somewhat large bag to put up with some abuse. I hope to be going to Marine Corps Officer Candidates School next summer or fall. It is well know that when a candidate arrives, the things he brings will get thrown and abused by the staff. During "pickup" (when the candidates meet the staff that will be training them for the next 10 weeks) they should expect every single personal item they have brought to be thrown across the parade deck (basically a large parking lot without any painted lines).

I'm looking for a bag that can survive this kind of abuse. A few basic requirements (in decreasing order of importance):

1. NO WHEELS. It can NOT have wheels.
2. Again, very sturdy and rugged.
3. Somewhat rigged (i.e. not loose and flowy).
4. Easy to carry. Shoulder or backpack straps being the bare minimum.
5. Easy to access the contents and re-fill after all of my stuff has been dumped out.

Thanks.

Help Me Find a Sexy Weekend Bag (For a Guy)

I am the unproud owner of the world's most hideous weekend bag. I'd like to right the wrong by moving up to a really sexy-looking weekend bag (I'm a guy).
View this photo to experience the fugly, shiny, lumpy dismagnificence of hideous weekend bag (HWB). The bag measures 22" x 9".

The problem is that in terms of utility, i can't find anything as good as HWB. Its flaccid softness makes it easy to overstuff. And I like the zippered side pockets - also overstuffable - that can fit a shoe each, or separate dirty laundry. I like the flush-fitting velcroed outer pocket for documents and maps.

Is there anything out there that's also got lots and lots of space, with shoe/laundry-accommodating segregated pockets, but that's gaspingly masculine and sexy? Or shall I stick with function-over-form?

Oh, one thing: please, no conspicuously expensive leather that will get the thing stolen within the first month!

The Patagonia MLC isn't great looking, but its got the space, segregation, and overstuffability.

The Patagonia lightweight tote is perfect, but nearly as ugly as HWB

This banana republic pebbled leather duffle is awesome looking (though lacks segregated space for shoes/laundry)...but it seems oh-so-stealable.

This nylon weekend bag from banana republic seems like a decent compromise.

Is there anything perfect out there?
