I’ll be in Ireland in October, but won’t be able to rent a car (no license). Is it enough of a disadvantage that I’d be better off visiting just Dublin, leaving other areas to be properly explored with a car on my next trip? [more inside]
I know nothing of Ireland. I've been reading past questions and asking the Internet. Will be landing in Dublin with SO and 9month old kid. Have car hired. Have 2.5 weeks. Need to be in Limerick for a work thing at some point but otherwise we can go anywhere driveable. [more inside]
I'm planning a trip in early November, and need some advice on the city of choice. Where would you go, Sarajevo or Dublin? [more inside]
Thanks to the UK border agency inconveniently scheduling my visa start date, I have to leave the UK and re-enter after 15 Dec. Since flights were very cheap to Dublin, I decided to book a flight to Dublin, stay an evening, then fly back. I'll be by myself. I've never been to Dublin. What should I do? [more inside]
You know when you get a recommendation on travel and you go in a place in a random city and there are locals there and they say something like "yeah, we love this place, but how did YOU know about it?" Well, do you have any current suggestions like that - food, drink, or other - for Dublin, Ireland, tonight through this weekend? Even the touristy places are great here but I'd love any insider info. Cheers and thank you in advance for any advice.
We have one day in Dublin on Friday (flight gets in at 8:30 am, have to be back at the airport by 5pm). Can we reasonably find interesting things to do in that time? Parks to walk through, a good place for a pub lunch (and World Cup watching?) or just interesting things to see in the vicinity such that we could get back to the airport in time would be great.
I'm going to Dublin, Ireland for several weeks for work. Do you have any suggestions for something to acquire while I'm there that isn't a tourist-type thing and that is usually only doable if you're in a place for more than a few days? [more inside]
When I get off BART at the Dublin/Pleasanton station, I often see quite a few people (as many as ten) getting off my train, walking across the platform, and boarding the train that goes the other direction. Dublin/Pleasanton is the end of the line, and there is only one line that goes there. What are these people doing? [more inside]
My fabulous in-laws are taking the family on a trip to Ireland this summer. Please help us find the real gems! [more inside]
I was recently in Dublin and was amazed by the Book of Kells exhibit (if you're ever there I highly recommend it). Anyway, there was an image in the exhibit, not from the Book of Kells, that I loved and want a tattoo of! All I have is this bad photo. BAD PHOTO! I've done hours of internet search, reverse image look up and all that. Has anyone seen it, know what its from or have a good image of it? Its mostly the upper part with the guys arms and the serpents. Thanks!
I will be traveling to Dublin, Ireland frequently in the next 6 mos - year and I need to find an appropriate SIM vendor. I have done a ton of research but I am still hamstrung in terms of concrete advice. Here is what I know: I have unlocked my old iPhone 4 for this purpose. My husband and I have AT&T for our stateside smartphone service. My mother has Verizon (my preschooler will be with her). I will use the phone to call my husband and daughter nightly (probably two separate calls) and I will want some data coverage for navigation, texting, etc. I would prefer not to initiate any kind of contract until after the first trip. Any recommendations? TIA.
I'll be visiting a friend in Dublin in a few days, and we'd like to go see Giant's Causeway. Is there a good and easy way to do this that could get us there and back in a day? Or if you've done it spending the night somewhere, is there an in-between place you'd suggest? [more inside]
As a follow up to this, my son is flying to Dublin tomorrow from the US, attending DCU. He's got an apartment lined up but will need to get Internet service for it and a SIM card for his iPhone 4S shortly after he arrives. He'll be there for about a year. We're looking for specific recommendations for Internet service and mobile providers, and where/how to sign up! [more inside]
Please help me narrow down my Ireland itinerary before I go insane with indecision. [more inside]
My son will be spending a semester at Dublin City University starting in September (coming from the US). He's been trying to find a place to stay for himself and another student since January. Nothing available on campus and the popular off campus places are all full. [more inside]

My cousin is moving to Dublin to go to medical school in two weeks. When he gets there, he wants to sign up for a mobile phone plan. He intends to get an iPhone 4 (not negotiable), and cannot wait until the 5 is announced for prices to drop. But which carrier does he go with? [more inside]
Living in Dublin 9, by DCU. No car, own nothing but some clothes in a suitcase, and will be here for the next three months. Currently eating off of paper plates (the only plates I could find) and groceries (expensive, I think?) from the nearby Eurospar. How can I best manage being without a car, and how do I feed myself cheaply here? [more inside]
I am not a computer repair person, and apparently, don't know if I trust those who are. I recently had a problem with the frame around the screen of my laptop (Dell Inspiron, about 5 years old). I took it to a shop to be repaired, and while there I mentioned that the computer was running a bit slowly, and asked if they could also install more RAM (if that might make it run faster). The technician said yes, and for the same price of installing the RAM, he would give it their tune up service. [more inside]
What should my wife do while accompanying me on a business trip in Dublin? [more inside]
I need some Dublin pointers. I'll be there for a short stay, and since I'm going over on St. Patricks day (as well as my birthday), there will be no historical touring for me. So, I'd love to know about any unique Dublin sites (for instance the torture museum in Amsterdam), including any day trips - bonus points if any of these include drag queens! [more inside]
Would anyone confirm or deny that the Vodafone store in the Dublin airport is still there? And you can buy a pay-as-you-go phone for around $50 American? And it's near the arrival hall? [more inside]
American traveller just landed in Dublin. Airline seat caused back pain. Traveller needs ibuprofen or Advil. How do we find this? It's Sunday afternoon. All we can find is panadol. Is there a way to get ibuprofen over the counter? Or even get it delivered? Our location is near = Inchicore Rd near the Kilmainham Gaol.

Husband & I are going to both Dublin & Amsterdam in September. We're seeking accommodations (either Hotel or Bed & Breakfast) that would allow us to live like locals enjoying a weekend* (see inside) . Ideally, the hotel would be far enough to avoid traffic/congestion/tourists but close enough to be able to take public transportation to attractions. [more inside]

Generating XML documents help? I work with the county health department, and have been asked to come up with a way to create, store and manipulate metadata for various datasets we store internally on a network drive. Basically I think the simplest thing to do is to create an xml file stored in the same directory with any dataset. Preferably I can do this with infopath 2003 or free software, and using the Dublin Core standard for metadata. I've seen the 5 year old answers on Dublin Core Metadata from this Ask, but I need to let my coworkers create the data first, and that mostly covers storage/database solutions. Looking through various DC list archives hasn't been helpful. [more inside]

If you have any cheap accommodations in Belfast or Dublin too that'd be great.
I'm going to be in Dublin this weekend (Thursday through Sunday) and have discovered that TradFest 2009 in Temple Bar will be running while I'm in town. I've spend a fair few happy hours swilling Guinness and listening to traditional Irish music, but I don't know much about it. Is there anything on the schedule that is a must-see? [more inside]
Posted my daughter her excess luggage by Parcelforce (UK to Ireland) when she went back to uni (UCD) last week. Now there's no trace of the suitcase although it is logged as having been received in Dublin. It's now one week behind schedule, and An Phost's customer service is completely useless (didn't ring back as promised, hung up/disconnected, can't get through with 15 minutes waiting, etc.). Registered a complaint with Parcelforce who are working on it, without a result to date. Is this par for the course? Helllllllllllp!
Well, I've now been refused entry into the UK. What can I do now? How do I get there? [more inside]
