I am purchasing my first dslr camera and I've decided on the Canon Rebel series. How do I choose between the T1i with video, Xs or Xsi.
I understand the differences in megapixels, but what other things should consider before choosing?

I am new to digital photography and I am looking for instructive examples of technique. Ideally this would be a regularly updated website/flickr pool/forum where people post pictures with an explanation of how/why they took the shot, including technical info (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc.).

Can anyone recommend a good action, landscaping, and travel DSLR in the $~1000 range? I tend to travel around and take pictures of nature, which include landscape as well as fast-moving animals.
(Low light would be nice too, but I won't hold my breath.)
I have read
this, but it's from '07. I'd like updated recommendations.

Is there a general liquidation timeline I can use to determine when to purchase an item?
I'm specifically looking at Circuit City. I was in there last week and saw that a DSLR (the Canon Xsi) I've been eyeing was at this location and was on sale for 10% off.
I went again on Thursday and it was down to 20% off.
I just came back from checking today and it was still 20% off and in stock. When would be the best time to purchase it?
By "best" I mean lowest price but still in stock.
