My DSL internet connection went kaput on Thursday. I rebooted my modem with the help of my ISP and all was well for a few hours. I figured it was my ancient modem that finally died. So, I pick up a new modem and plug it in and nothing happens. All the lights light up, my ipod touch and laptop see my wireless network but there's connection. I plug directly into the modem via ethernet cable and still nothing.

After wasting two different off-days trying to get my damnable modem+router working, I want to return them both and get something entirely new. Any good recommendations for a solid, reliable DSL modem and wireless router set-up with decent NAS support?

I'm moving to a new apartment in Louisville, KY and I need to decide on some sort of internet package. AT&T is apparently what most people in the area choose, so I've been looking at their options. I think that I might want either their DSL XTREME or DSL XTREME 6.0 but I don't want to pay for more than I need. I need to be able to download and upload music and videos, and I stream a lot of television shows and movies through Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming sites. I also need to be able to use Skype. Which option would be the better one?

I'm going absolutely crazy here! I previously had a 2Wire DSL modem set to bridge mode with the Linksys router handling PPPoE auth. I recently moved and I'm trying to do the same thing with a new Motorola 3347 (Netopia 3000) and I can't get it to work to save my life.

Netgear 85 mbps Powerline Network Adapter Kit and watching Netflix movies on my BlueRay player... why does movie stop, download and then start again every few minutes? I just tested my DSL speed and it is 1180 Kbps at the moment. Do I need to upgrade the Netgear Powerline Adapter to 200 mbps or is it another problem?

IT/Telecom people: I'm bringing a 1Gbps metro Ethernet connection into the basement of a large apartment building. This building has 2-pair wiring in the walls for multiple phone lines to each apartment (dating from the 1970s, but in very good condition) running from the basement wiring closet to each unit. We are shopping for VDSL2 DSLAMs.

my two year-old macbook pro recently got a new cousin: a new mbp. both are running 10.6.4. my old mbp never had any problems establishing a wifi connection to my dsl modem, which is protected using wpa2. my new mbp sometimes can't connect via wifi/airport to said dsl modem. I usually get "connection timeout" errors displayed if I manually select the network. this is at the same time as my old mbp sitting right next to it is connected.
