Give me some easy songs for kids with no music training

I am part of a group of university-age music students who are volunteering at our local Boys and Girls Club to run a music playing-and-teaching program. I'm looking for easy pop songs that kids ages 9-15 would enjoy singing or playing along to on drums or guitar. [more inside]

Gretsch Catalina drum kit, good for a beginner?

I've finally got a house with a basement, and I'm about to realize a long-held ambition to learn the drums. How should I get started? Should I learn some basics on a practice pad before I shop for a kit, or should I buy the kit I (think I) want? [more inside]

What would you call this sort of drum-heavy music in this track?

Came across this track and I'm unsure how to categorize it, or even search for more like it other than with vague descriptions like "drum-heavy instrumental." Could someone a little more experienced in drum-based music like this tell me whether this is part of a genre or just a certain sound? (link inside) [more inside]

Drum sampling options?

I'm a drummer in an indie-rock band with a 5-piece kit who is looking to expand my setup to include a drum sampling pad. I want something that has unique percussion sounds (not just cheesy electronic beats), built-in effects, plenty of storage space to upload my own samples, and the ability to record and loop live drumbeats. Any advice? [more inside]

Recently switched from digital drumset to acoustic. How do we keep them from being picked up by the vocal mics?

How to play the drums when you've never played the drums

Please suggest resources for me to learn how to create good drum/percussion parts (using a MIDI keyboard). Drums in NYC apartment

Drummers: I need recommendations for an electronic drum set that is ideal for an apartment in NYC. My apartment is not big, so the set should be either a) compact or b) easy to set up and take down whenever I play. Also, bonus points for recommendations for small amplifier that I can use when I don't want to play with headphones.

Guitar Hero Kick Pedal Dead

My Guitar Hero drum's kick pedal is dead. I looked online but there are a lot of options and mixed reviews for most of what I found. What's the best mix of frugality and "not going to die on me"-ality that I can find? I'm not opposed to buying an entire new set if that makes more sense.
