A doctor has gotten my sister-in-law addicted to meds (Oxycontin). She lives in a small town with no treatment programs available, has no insurance and no money. How can I get her help? [more inside]
My 25 year old daughter is worrying me. She self medicates with vicodin to help her through her depression. Lately she has become comatose, falling asleep at the wheel, talking with slurred speech and denying that she is doing any drugs. Her mother took her to the hospital and they advised her to see a psychiatrist. I would like to give her the benefit of the doubt and believe that she is clean but she has a history that can't be denied. My latest thought is that she is doing but is in denial. Is there a definitive test that I can purchase from the pharmacy that would be conclusive. The part about her slurred speech, can anything else be causing this (she is also bulemic). As you can see she has alot to deal with. Any suggestions? I know she needs psychological help but I can't force her and since she is an adult she would not let her mother speak with the doctor.

I recently increased my dosage of lamictal from 100mg/day to 200mg/day. I was prescribed 100mg pills, whereas before I had 25mg pills. For a month's supply of 100mg/daily in 25mg units, the bill sent to my insurance was over $500. For 200mg in 100mg units, it was just under $300. Why would more of the active ingredient cost less? I know the difference in pill count can't account for that much of a differential. What's the creative economics here?

A friend of mine had some trouble with US Customs after traveling through Europe. As it turns out, Lush soap may violate US drug laws. Customs evidently took her soap, tested it and showed it contained trace amounts of THC. She was detained for five hours, threatened with imprisonment and fined $500. So my question is thus: Is Lush in anyway liable if they are putting marijuana in their products without proper labeling? Is there anyway to appeal or contest the US Customs fine? Has anyone had a similar experience? [more inside]

PillsFilter. You'd think that a woman my age could swallow pills, but you'd be wrong. As I chewed several children's Tylenols this morning, I told myself that there had to be a way to master this skill. I should add that the problem is not the size of the pill, but the actual swallowing-without-chewing bit--even with teensy-tiny pills, my throat closes up. Any suggestions, before I manage to contract some deadly illness that requires the daily ingestion of an entire pharmacy?
It has been recommended that my 6 y.o. see a psychiatrist for possible ADD. Has anyone else had experience with someone so young being administered drugs for this? I'm having fears that he'll turn into a zombie. Minus the flesh eating.
