Is there a way to report dangerous driving that you see on the road? e.g. speeding, weaving in and out of lanes.. or just wait and hope the police catch up with them eventually? If I have a reason to believe this bad driver is going to cause an accident - is there a way to report them? I live in the Chicago suburbs.

Another longshot hardware question, but not the wood table kind: I have an OLD Dell PowerEdge 350. I'm running OpenSUSE 10.3. I'd like to monitor system stats like processor temperature and drive status via the normal IPMI drivers. This should be possible; I can get it working on a 1650 using the drivers from Dell's linux website. It doesn't mention the 350 anywhere. Ideas?

I have a client system that has Vista preinstalled. The client wants XP Pro on the system. It's a laptop, and the manufacturer (HP) only provides Vista drivers. Will the Vista drivers work in Windows XP? Is there a hardware-equivalent HP system that is the Windows XP version that I can get drivers for to use on this one? It's an HP DV6235NR. Thanks!

Windows XP does not support (no drivers) an Agfa Snapscan 1212 Scanner because it is operates through the parallel port. Would the scanner work if I purchased a USB to parallel printer cable even though I would have to rely on the Win 98 drivers or is it a lost cause for this scanner.

I’m driving considerably more than I used to, and have noticed an interesting phenomenon as a result. At least once a day, I see a driver coming towards a stop sign, prepared to make a rolling stop, fixated on looking to their right. At the final second, they look to the left and slam the brakes upon seeing an approaching vehicle. I’d like to figure out why these folks look to the right, instead of the left, which is the lane that will crash into them first. Am I just noticing the bad drivers because they stand out, or there a better explanation?

2 to 3 times a day my work computer locks up and i get a pop-up message: "The s3sav4 display driver has stopped working normally. [Save & reboot]" My screen drops down to a 640 x 480 display with almost no color. I reboot and everything is fine again (for a few hours). The cheap bastards here are not going to buy me a new computer. Is it a hardware or software issue -- any clues as to the nature of the problem and if there anything I can do or download to fix it?

Sorry to bother people but I'm at my wit’s end and desperate for help. I've bought a CardBus PCMCIA card with 2x USB2 ports, 1x 1394 firewire 6 pin, 1x 1394 firewire 4 pin for my laptop from eBay. It was supplied without documentation and a copied CD with USB 2.0 drivers. I'm running a Dell Latitude C640 with Windows 2000 SP4. I have today updated my BIOS and am running the most recent set. Windows update reports that my OS is fully up to date. Upon inserting the card Windows auto-detected the device. Inserting USB devices (camera and iPod) doesn't bring them up and interestingly the iPod isn't charging. After 8 hours of grappling with VIA USB drivers I’ve hit a brick wall. Under USB controllers in the device manger the following are listed: Standard Universal PCI to USB Hub USB Root Hub USB Root Hub USB Root Hub VIA USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller VIA USB Universal Controller VIA USB Universal Controller All now appear to have the right driver installed but VIA USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller lists a Code 10 error saying that it can't start. I've downloaded the Microsoft USB2.0 hotfix as well as the VIA USB2.0 2.60 drivers all to no avail. Does anyone have any idea as to what I could do?

On behalf of a friend: "I need to find a driver for a USB fingerprint reader and I'm drawing blanks. We bought this USB fingerprint scanner off eBay - it was made by ST Electronics, which was then sold off to Upek (www.upek.com) so I think that's probably where the confusion stems from. It's an older model, not supported anymore (or at least, the model number appears nowhere on their website anymore, plus the newer drivers fail to work with the scanner).

Model number: TCFC*TCSA1BL\LFE
5.0V 70mA max

is all that's written on the bottom, apart from a white serial number sticker and an "ST Made in Taiwan" transparent sticker. It still looks like this; the newer UPEK models that look similar are TCRU1C and TCRU2C. So we have a scanner, tales that companies stopped selling them because of driver support, and no trace of them really on the net at all... at least the old model number anyway." Help?

802.11g cards that work well in Linux. What has worked for you (and under what kernel)? Is there any advantage in getting a card with a native driver instead of using ndiswrapper? Do they speak successfully to both G and B access points? Even better if the card is available in both PCMCIA and PCI.
