Tapioca balls in drinks. Also known as boba. I recently saw a bar advertising alcoholic drinks WITH boba in them. And I said "Well that's dumb. Anyone can do that. Why not put the booze IN the boba?" To which a friend said "well that's impossible." And I said, "Oh yeah? Well I'm going to do it." And then I realized I know nothing about this.
So to you.
Can booze be injected into a tapioca ball? Can they be soaked in booze? Would that work? Would they soak it up? What would be the best way to make booze filled bobas?

A friend of mine who can't drink for the near future wanted to meet up with me at a bar/restaurant (in the US) for my birthday. I'd like to help make it be totally awesome for her by suggesting amazing non-alcoholic drinks that would (figuratively) knock her socks off. What do you recommend? (This will be at a bar that basically tends to have everything, although right now they are out of bitters.) I've reviewed older posts along these lines, but was curious to know what else might be available. Thanks!

I have a date with my visiting from out of town stepsister this Sunday and she wants to go see some live jazz but nothing too avant guard.
Please help me look cool by recommending somewhere we could go. She's a music teacher and plays a couple instruments so unlike me she probably knows good from bad. Nice cocktails would be a plus and ideally not to far out as she's staying at a hotel in Times Square.

My partner and I are about spend the next two weeks camping in a fairly remote national park in Tasmania. We are bringing a bottle of gin because we like it and being compact it can come in by boat with our other supplies. We can buy limited other supplies before we leave to mix with it. Other than that we will have access to (possibly rather mediocre) tank water and a decent camp kitchen. So please give us all your creative gin cocktail recipes that can be prepared with limited ingredients in the middle of nowhere. We will toast you as we drink them!

My favorite drink is a Tanqueray and tonic and has been since I was young. In the US, especially as a teenager, people told me that it was a cranky old man drink while marveling at how it glowed under blacklight. I traveled to London once, and a guy there told me that it was a "chick drink".
I, of course, don't let what people think of it affect what tasty, tasty alcohol delivery vehicle I choose, but where you are, what's the "reputation" of gin-based drinks? Are they "manly" or "girly"? And how did it gain that reputation?
I'm holding a gimlet right now because I've run out of tonic water.

My birthday's coming up, and I'm looking for a place near Dupont Circle (DC) to get together with friends and co-workers after work on a Friday where many of us can have dinner, but which will also smoothly accomodate some people coming in and out for drinks only (and people ordering their apps and/or entrees at different times.) Basically I'd like to be there for at least 2 to 3 hours but for it to be no problem for some people to come late or leave early, and for people to feel equally welcome either to stop by for a few drinks or to arrive at any point, have dinner and stick around to possibly continue elsewhere afterwards. I'm looking for recommendations for hot chocolate mixes which don't require you to add them to milk (it's probably best if they already contain the milk, but that's not required as long as it doesn't taste thin and watery when you put it in hot water). I'm not lactose intolerant, but I don't usually have milk around, plus it's much easier & more convenient to heat up water. [more inside]

All borough-wide recommendations appreciated, though anything located in Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Prospect Heights and DUMBO are most desired. [more inside]

There is only one cocktail that I really, really like. I discovered it by chance at my favorite restaurant, since sadly closed down. I can get people to make it for me but it seems like I always have to explain the recipe three times and I feel there must be a name for it. Unfortunately, I have drawn a blank when visiting cocktail websites. Please help me ID this drink! [more inside]
