I have finally hit the point where I'm unable to wear the shoes that have carried me through the first two thirds of this pregnancy. I'm looking for shoe suggestions that meet the following criteria:

I am not at all into the steampunk scene. But for the fun of it, I'm going to
this in a couple of months. A friend of mine has been to it regularly, and has persuaded me to join her for the evening. So I need to figure out a costume. I'd like to keep total spend under $100-$150, if at all possible.

I am looking for a non-traditional wedding dress but am not finding a ton that I love in my city. When I looked at Nordstrom, which was the best of the available brick-and-mortar options, I found
this, which I loved and looks good on me, but the navy is way too dark a color. If I want to find something with a similar fit and/or look online, what "dress words" do I search for, and where should I be looking?

Most androgynous clothing styles skew towards the masculine. I'm trying to work out some ways might it be possible to go in the other direction. Specifically, if you have or have wanted to shift towards a more feminine presentation, what kind of clothing do you wish you could find?

In a couple months I have to attend my first ever military ball. I do not know much in the way of social expectations of such an event, I guess I'm just supposed to go and look pretty.. which leads to the real question, What do I wear!!!? . Or how I should dress exactly, what are the "norms"...

Help me find a little black dress. I'm in my mid-20s, short (5'2"), and curvy (dress size 4-8, depending on much curvature they allow), and it should look good with
black knee-high boots and
'hose. So I'm thinking maybe something that stops at mid-thigh. It should be something dressy enough for a NYE party and classy enough to wear to a work holiday party. Pure black preferred, but different textures and shapes are welcomed. I own a lot of fit & flare dresses, so I'm comfortable with that, or I can get a more sheath like dress...? It needs to be from somewhere (local to Seattle or online) where I can return for free (including shipping). Budget: $20 to $300 for the right dress.

I have
this dress, and while it fits well at the waist and through my ribs and I've worn it before, it squishes my 30F chest in a way that does not look flattering at all. There is not enough extra fabric to let the dress out, and I can't buy a larger size. Whom in Seattle can I trust to do a
great job at converting the zippered back (all the way to my nape, with mesh fabric upper half) to a lace corset back? Any other ideas?

Some friends of mine got married last month in India, and they're having a large evening reception this weekend. I know that colorful is the way to go, but all of my colorful dresses are too casual. What I have left is a mostly black dress with a few grey panels, and a mostly white dress with a light blue floral print. Would either of those be ok, or should I go shopping this weekend? The bride had previously said that "a dress you would wear to an American wedding" is fine, and I don't want to pester her asking for specifics when I'm sure she has other things on her mind right now!

I am looking for a very specific type of item: a shirt dress (or shirtwaist dress, even) in navy blue, preferably with long sleeves (though negotiable here) in a U.S. women's 16 or 18. Have you seen such a thing? Help. I'd like to spend under $200.

I live in Boston/Cambridge, late twenties of average height and weight. I usually go dress shopping in the sales rack at Banana or Ann Taylor or, for more casual wear, places like Marshall's or Macy's. But I'm looking to go on a special-occasion shopping trip for a special-occasion dress (the event being a spring wedding in London and the excuse being to reward myself for when/if I lose 10+ straggler lbs.)

We're attending some friends' commitment ceremony scheduled for 5pm on a summer Saturday. What to wear for these occasions is totally baffling to me, so I'm turning to the hivemind for etiquette advice. I'd love to be able to wear the dress from my own wedding 15 years ago (attended by one half of this couple), in part because it's a pretty dress and also as an homage to these lovely people that happen to reside in a state without marriage equality. The dress is not a typical wedding dress (it's a peach and pink floral, in silk chiffon) and style-wise is the sort of thing I think would be appropriate for the event and the venue. But would it be weird to wear it to another wedding? And should I have it shortened from floor-length to, say, tea-length?
