How do I get back to having pleasant dreams?

I've noticed recently that when I've had particularly stressful weeks at work my brain ends up reliving those stresses through dreams/nightmares, leading me to wake up in the middle of the night with my mind racing and having trouble going back to sleep, which is obviously not helping the stress situation. In Search of Happy Thoughts

I noticed a few days ago that when I started reading before bed the nightmares I've been having for the past few months became less exhausting. Now I've run out of reading material and would love recommendations for some quick reads/videos/etc that I could indulge in before bed and when I wake up in the morning so my mind stops fixating on bad stuff. Share with me your happy thoughts, please! [more inside]

Why haven't I ever had a good dream?

In my entire life, I have never had a good dream (that I can remember). What can I do about this? Every morning I awake feeling like I've just endured an extremely intense work out. These nightmares terrify me and are incredibly vivid. It feels like I am dreaming all night long, without ascending and descending through all of the stages of sleep. Is it possible to get too much REM sleep? If so, what causes this? Any sort of suggestion, outside of recommending therapy (done that), would be helpful. [more inside]
