I've been going to a lot of job interviews, and the Human Resources people always like to throw in "What is your ideal dream job?" In the past I have slipped up on this trick question, by ACTUALLY ANSWERING IT and telling them what my ideal dream job is. Now I'm older and wiser, and I think I'm beginning to catch on. They want some kind of a neutral, politically-savvy, bland response. Right? [more inside]

Whenever I dream, stairwells, elevators, and large buildings with multiple levels always figure prominently. There'd be nothing strange about this except a) my daily life does not involve stairwells, large buildings, or elevators in any way, and b) they're in absolutely every dream I have -- no exceptions. This has been going on for at least a year, possibly longer. What could be possibly be causing this?

I have excessive dream recall (I dream too much.) I frequently confuse the details of my realistic dreams for reality meaning I reference things in conversation that never happened. If I'm anxious the dreams are nightmares but not night terrors. Anyone mastered this problem? If so, how? [more inside]

I'm looking for narratives (books, movies, games) in which the protagonist is dead, dying or unconscious, and discovers they are not in the 'real' world at all, but Hell, heaven, purgatory, a coma, a nightmare, memory, or similar. Examples which contain spoilers below the fold. [more inside]

Inspired by this question: are there good message boards or discussion groups out there on the web for talking about dreams and creativity? I'm reading Freud's The Interpretation of Dreams, and the jumps he makes in interpreting dreams -- from a dream image to someone's long-ago memory to some quote to another quote to a childhood wet-nurse -- strike me as absolutely ludicrous. How and why do any therapists put any faith in this method of interpretation (I know many don't)?

Just as I'm falling asleep, I regularly have a brief but powerful dream in which I experience the fear that I'm about to have or cause a car wreck, and then I wake up. Should recurring dreams of this nature be a cause for concern, or are they quite commonplace and natural?

A friend of mine told me a few years ago about "dradows". These are half-dream-half-shadows; the image you have of something before you actually see it (e.g. the picture you get of a house based on a textual description). Can someone point me to references about this idea? [more inside]

When I wake up, I lie in bed and think. Gradually, I get more awake until I'm ready to get up. But, if I think about the dreams I just had, I get overpoweringly sleepy again. Why is it that thinking about anything else helps me to continue gently waking up, but thinking about dreams puts me immediately and irresistibly back to sleep? [more inside]

I just had a dream. In the dream I had recollection of another dream I had (in the dream, I say! an actual other dream I had about a year ago!). Then when I woke up, over making the morning joe, I recalled not only the dream from last night, but the recollection of the dream from a year ago, and how the experience of recalling a dream within a dream felt. What the hell do you call that?
