Anyone point me towards some music that I can download and use to accompany the photographs that I'll be taking at my son's school sports day? I intend selling copies of the disc for a few pounds each to raise some money for school funds, so either copyright free or some sort of UK waiver would be essential. The music should be upbeat and appropriate for a sporting theme.

How much money does an artist get when I buy their music online? What amount of money goes to an artist if I buy an album on eMusic, iTunes or Amazon? How does it compare to what they make from a CD sale? [more inside]

Legitimizing iTunes Library. I have *ahem* a friend. This friend has a reasonably large digital music collection being managed by iTunes on a Mac. He would like to understand the cost of ensuring this collection is 100% legal, having realized that the vast majority of it is not. [more inside]

I've been attempting (unsuccessfully) to download out of print albums from music blogs. One of two problems typically occurs. Once the download is complete I can't locate the file anywhere, or, if the file appears I'm unable to open it. Any suggestions?

Does buying music online really have to be such a pain in the ass? I have WinAmp and an MP3 player. Now isn't there a simple music sales website where I can buy a song without subscribing to some monthly service and downloading yet more software? No iTunes, no Musicmatch Jukebox, no Y! Music Unlimited, no Yahoo Player, no RealRhapsody player...

A friend has a band, the band has CDs, the band want to sell digital downloads of the music on those CDs. Is there a web site that offers some kind of service to help with the problem of payment processing and hosting the files? They already have their songs in the iTunes Music Store, but they also want to offer them from their own site. This would let them keep a bigger chunk of the price paid, and offer the songs to people not served by iTMS (for geographical, technological or ideological reasons). They might be willing to use plain mp3s, without DRM, if this is what's needed to offer the songs on their site.

I'd like to understand more about how music licensing works (especially for online music downloads, which seems particularly maddening), how it relates to traditional pre-internet music licensing, and if there's any chance the system may change in the near future. [more inside]

Desperately seeking Eugene! I have three chilled beats dj mix mp3s downloaded freely via some designer site in 2000/2001, all "mixed by eugene". The titles of the 40 minute mp3s are "round midnight", "heavy build", and "looking forward". I can't remember if eugene is/was a pro dj or a talented hobbyist, but damn his music collection is fine, and I need more!
