I'd like to find a (cheap!) way to bring a buttload of downloaded Spotify songs into work with me every day without burdening my phone. [more inside]
I'm looking for a piece of software that will monitor a webpage, scan it for URLs of a particular form, and whenever a new such URL is posted, download the MP3 file that this URL points to. In an ideal world, this MP3 file would be added to my iTunes library as well, but it's not strictly necessary. Does such a tool exist for Mac OS? [more inside]
I have windows 8.1 and I have pictures and videos inside the picture library. When I go into the picture library I see photos and I also have videos and those video icons have arrows in the center of them to indicate to me that they are videos. I can't seem to figure out how to transfer those videos to a DVD disc. I have DVD+R discs. Thank you.
Is there an easy way to download or scrape the complete U.S. census images and index data for a particular town from familysearch.org? I'd like to analyze data for a smallish town, but not so much that I would like to transcribe a few thousand records manually.
Need to download hundreds of PDFs, but they are linked in PDFs... Browser extensions can't auto-download them- what are my options? [more inside]
I've been avoiding adding widgets to my WordPress site ... keeping it basic, I think, may reduce the amount of security policing I have to do myself. But now I've made a coloring book page I'd like people to be able to download and print for free. Anybody with more experience know the best way to do this? I have it as a jpeg, but could easily make it a pdf.
I didn't ask it to, but my iPhone lately keeps trying to download more music to its library. Any clues? [more inside]

I'm editing my poetry manuscript and foolishly I've got a few stray poems nowhere else except scattered over some Facebook messenger threads. I'd love to find a way to quickly download threads without scrolling through the whole things, so I can quickly locate the poems I want to add to my draft. [more inside]
Recently I totaled my car and lost all my favorite CDs that were stored in the disc changer. I never ripped any of the albums to a computer so no digital copies exist, but I do have all the original cases and booklets. Is it possible to legally download digital copies to replace what I've already purchased?
Hi, I used to use a program called ViJournal Lite on my Mac, which was a pretty simple password-protected text program that I used as a diary. With it I could create a new page for each day. Does anyone know of a similar such program that I can download? It seems like the ViJournal website is gone. [more inside]
Hi there. I just subscribed to a site called pilatesanytime.com, which offers numerous pilates videos for subscribers to watch. However, I’d like to be able to download the videos to my hard drive to watch when I don’t have an internet connection. I’m using a Mac with Firefox, Chrome and Safari. I’m an “intermediate”-level tech person, but the usual Firefox "get video" Fox extensions do NOT work on this site, nor is the underlying video file visible using such methods as “View Page Source” or Firebug. I got an android tablet, which is the first mobile smart device I've ever bought. (I'm still in the dumbphone contingent.) What are the few apps that you've found to be the most useful or just plain neat? [more inside]
I was interviewed by two television stations who later broadcast part of the interview. Both sent me a link to the story. The (formally) easy problem I have is to download the linked broadcast to my computer and eventually to a DVD archive. [more inside]
Looking for recommendations for a video download extension for Firefox that won't a) inject ads into the stream, or b) track every site I visit. [more inside]
I'm about to get on a long international flight. I'd like to download some TV shows and movies to my Mac laptop before I go, so that I can watch them offline while in the air. Most sites seem to be focused on streaming these days, so what are my best options for obtaining offline content? I'm in the U.S. Thanks!
I need to purchase a copy of the Punch Brothers' cover of Reptilia, but it isn't available on iTunes or Amazon. Anyone know where I can buy it? Obsessive Googling hasn't helped me so far. [more inside]
We have a website. It is a simple WordPress install. We have software for Mac, PC, Android, and iOS. The last two game clients are handled by Large Companies With A Cloud. The first two are just on our webserver and this is not a good long-term plan. Where is the best place to post these game clients? [more inside]
I have a dear friend whose son has been in the NICU since June 25th. He's responded incredibly well to classical music, Aphex Twin and loves other types of "light" stimulation, especially anything with repetitive patterns/sounds (he cries when bath time ends, for example, and loves watching a little light/music toy that we hold outside his crib). They're exhausted from coming up with ideas for things to play/do with him within his very limited environment, and he is immune-compromised so most "typical" baby toys are out. Downloadable via Audible.com a plus! [more inside]
Is there any online service that will allow me to purchase a movie and download it as a standard video file? [more inside]
There's an interview archived on mpr (NPR MN) that I'd love to download and be able to listen to "offline". I tried determining the url, but they seem to be using some tricky relay or switching servers or something. A search did turn up an "NPR Stream Recorder" by company called Abyssmedia, but couldn't find any reviews as to whether it works currently and is free from pesky adware or worse.
I've migrated all my songs to iTunes Match, because I don't have space on my hard drive. But some of my ripped tracks have weird names, dating back from when I manually ripped the CDs. Is there a way of (semi?)automatically correcting these without having to download my whole library, or go through manually? [more inside]

It was someone's homemade outgoing machine message that included some sound effects, and then a voice saying "just show me a rich geologist" followed by a different voice excitedly exclaiming "I'm the mayor!" I definitely downloaded this in the last five years, but I don't know where. Do you?
I have been making greeting cards and would like to sell them. I have been doing rubber stamp and scrapbook paper stuff so far, but started looking for graphics I could print and incorporate. My google is failing me. It looks like shutterstock has great images, but even with the enhanced license, I cannot use them on things I will sell (unless i'm misreading what i find there). I'm getting really confused and getting a headache reading fine print everywhere and I must not be finding the right blogs or using the right words. Where do I find images (illustrations and graphics, NOT photos) that I can download, print, and use on my stuff that I will sell? [more inside]

Hi, We just got an Ipod Nano (the latest one) for Christmas and when we first got it out of the box we were able to download music from our computer to the I-Pod. We did it with I-tunes and I remember seeing something that indicated that the I-Pod was being recognized by the I-tunes website. No problems downloading to the I-Pod. But now I'm trying to add some music and the I-Pod is not being recognized. The new songs are in my library (under I-tunes) and they are already paid for. I have Windows Vista. The little white USB cord is not having a problem with charging the I-Pod, but nothing on the computer indicates that the I-Pod is recognized. When I am in the library, I click on DEVICES, and I can see a word that says sync, but sync is not in bold, another words I can't click on it. Any advice? I already turned my computer off and on again, and also took out the USB and put it back in as well. I went to the website and read the manual but there is so much there and I don't see how to do any of the instructions if the I-pod is not recognized. Thanks, Lynnie-the-pooh
Our organization has years' worth of Yahoo group postings. We would like to move our groups to Google but still be able to access and search these archives. Recent changes to the Yahoo groups UI seem to have broken existing third party tools. How can we download Yahoo group archives and host them on our own site?

I have been running a Facebook group since 2012 and I got a grant to do research with the findings from it. I need to download the group's postings and responses into a table and thinking the most reliable way to do so is with SQL. However, I have only just started with SQL and although I have found some ideas on Github for doing it, have no idea how to get started with pulling the information. I am seeking advice and possible alternatives. Can you help?

My birthday party starts in less than one hour. The theme is "black and white," and I had planned to project a friend's vaudeville silent film for atmosphere during the party. I just thought to check with the director to make sure he was still down with me showing his film, and it turns out that it isn't. I now need a plan B, in a hurry! See the invite here for the vibe...looking for artsy/funky/old-timey. And if you happen to be in Portland, please send me a MeMail if you'd like to join the festivities!

Is there a quick (or a quicker) way to download all files of a given type from the Media Library of a self-hosted WordPress site? The site in question has about 200 MP3s. I can easily sort out the MP3s by selecting "Audio." But how can I download them all at once? Is there a plug-in? FTP looks like a big pain, too, as these files are organized in folders by year and month, and there are several years here -- and many months with no uploads at all.
I've been using Hotmail for ages and I have a bunch of important emails going back two years which I need to organise and print out. Hotmail isn't very good at opening up multiple emails or printing them out so I'd like to download them to my macbook. They are currently sitting in their own folder in my Hotmail account. How do I download this folder and what software should I use?
We are trying to manually download a dropshipper's XML file of products. The file size is over 22MB and I can't open it in my web browsers Internet Explorer or FireFox (both latest). I tried asking them if they could allow me to read the directory the file's on so I could right click on it and download it manually but they refuse to do so. They told me I need to use an external program to download this XML file. I tried looking but with no luck. Could someone please help me. Thank you so much...

I have an ipod that I want to fill up. I don't do torrents, and I'm not looking for anything illegal, I just want stuff that's being given away. I'm really into The Roots, The Fugees, anything by the Sandpeople Collective, Atmosphere, Nas, Angel Haze, that sort of thing. Not really into Odd Future. I know there are a zillion good underground rappers out there with free downloadable albums. Can you recommend some for me?
I post a lot of pictures to tumblr from other devices, and I'd like to have copies of the images on my own computer. Is there a program for OSX that will let me download every image off my tumblr at once?
