Wordpress is adding a secret break tag to my Google Button code, and it's driving me batty. No one on the Google forums helped with FIXING the problem, and the one suggestion I got on Facebook from a friend was bupkis. I turn to the hive mind so that I can fix this stupid problem. [more inside]

Where to donate clothes to do the most good?

I recently lost a bunch of weight, and I have a lot of clothes that don't fit, some of which are pretty nice. What is the best place to donate them? Land the coin, get a free taco

At some older fast-food joints and other smaller businesses, there used to be a contraption filled with water that you could insert a coin into, and hope that it'd land on a small platform. If it did, you'd get something from the business, if it didn't, your coin would go towards some charitable cause (I think). Any more details/ideas on what this was called? [more inside]

AV equipment loans for the arts

How can I solicit electronic equipment for short term loan for an NYC art exhibition? It is affiliated with a non-profit and reasonably high profile, I have a PR kit ready but am having trouble finding the right contacts (at Samsung, Sony, or Panasonic for example). I need a monthlong loan of a flatscreen LED display and in exchange can offer PR opportunities, exposure to a sophisticated arts audience, and VIP performance tickets - a lot to offer!

Housing First Donations?

Organ donor, or not?

Should I sign up to be an organ donor? I like the idea of individuals getting my heart, lungs, kidney, liver, eyes, etc. I do not like the idea of having my body sent to a corporation to harvest my tissues and then packaging them and selling them for profit. I've read that this does happen, hospitals and transplant centers can thereby profit from the sales as well. How can one prevent that from happening and yet allow organs to be used by those needing them. My state donation site has a blanket consent form that reads as if my body could be taken to 'another facility' and "tissues" harvested. No mention of by whom, what for, and at what price they would be sold.

Processing monthly donations

Our environmental non-profit in Portland, Oregon receives a small portion of its revenue from recurring (monthly) contributions drawn via direct deposit. Recently, the bank we used to administer this account was acquired by another institution and started charging over a hundred bucks per month just to keep the account open. We shut the account down but are still looking for a reasonable alternative. If at all possible we'd like to avoid paying high administrative costs for the service and processing payments manually (since we'd most likely have to keep donors' account numbers in the office). I'm open to new ideas, and thanks in advance!

A man and his hair are soon parted

Dear Ask Me, I have been growing my hair for 3 years, with a goal of donating to wigs for kids (gets wigs to young people with permanent hair loss, as in alopecia, and burn victims), this year I topped their requirement for a foot in length; I want your tips of ensuring the best possible preservation of the hair. I have kept it maintained, but I am hoping there is a "final stretch" treatment that will make it in top shape for donating (not necessarily 'shine', or looks, but strength, and fortitude).
