One of my goals for 2013 is to donate a certain amount of my income to charity every month. I'm really excited about it - especially picking the groups that will receive my hard-earned $$$$$ (okay, $$$). But I'm NOT excited about the prospect of being put on mailing lists.

I'm ready to downsize, and I know how to use a garbage bag, photos of souvenirs and the "haven't worn it in a year" methods, but what else is there? What works for you?

I have a slew of photographs that I no longer want and would like to donate them if any folks can use them. I have tried art schools, public libraries, CraigsList, etc. to no avail. They are mostly snapshots of scenic views that I can no longer identify. Anyone know of any collage / multimedia artists, or organizations that utilize snapshots and will accept donations? Thanks in advance.

When all is settled from a deceased family member's estate (though this may take a while), I will be inheriting a substantial amount of money - including about 150k from sold stocks (after taxes). The vast majority of what I'll be inheriting was earned from fairly ethical means, but most of what will come from the stocks are from corporations that I consider pretty shitty and abhorrent. What's the best way to do something positive and helpful to communities and people with this money? Simple donation to organizations and charities with solid reputations? Setting up a charitable trust? Please help me with some ideas.

I am trying to figure out how to dispose a functioning Apple Quadra 630. I never used it much. It has been sitting in a box all these years. The CMOS battery probably needs to be replaced. But other than that it runs just fine. I was thinking of giving it away on local freecycle.org chapter. Then I started thinking if I can donate it to somebody who can really make use it. Most groups accepting donations seems to want Windows machines or newer Apple machines. I am looking for suggestions. Should I just give it away on freecycle?

Looking for good ways to clean out a PC storage before donating. I have some old PCs that I would rather donate than trashing them. What are good procedures and tools to use to clean out disks? Should I leave the OS on ? There may be questionable and personal content lurking around that I would prefer to wipe out. etc. etc.
