I have a second car. I know I can donate it or sell it or gift it. But can I rent it or lend it? I wouldn't mind making money from it before I let it go, but if that's not feasible, is it more or less so to find an altruistic purpose for it? Or should I just say goodbye?
Every year I make a donation in honor of my (deceased) mother's birthday. She was an outstanding scientist and teacher, won a bunch of mentoring awards, and helping women advance in STEM fields was important to her. I'm no longer able to donate to the organization I used in the past. Where should I send my money? (about $150). [more inside]
I think I have hit the $2700 donation limit (via ActBlue) for Bernie in the primary race. Where else can I contribute dollars towards his nomination? I could buy campaign tshirts I suppose, but what other pacs or fundraising groups can I donate to that will support his campaign in the democratic primaries? [more inside]
I'd like to contribute. I'm a bit uncomfortable giving to religious groups, though they seem to be the ones doing most of the on-the-ground work so far. What are my options?
In light of the recent earthquakes, I am looking for the best and easiest way to setup a page that accepts donations for a small, local, Nepali nonprofit. [more inside]

I have a couple of unopened bottles of whisky that I don't want. No one I have asked wants them. Normally I use Craigslist to give away stuff I don't want anymore, but listing alcohol is against the TOS for both Craigslist and Freecycle. I have also heard that food banks don't accept alcohol. I hate throwing away perfectly good stuff. Does anyone know of somewhere I can donate them, or any other way to legally find them a good home?
I have two gift cards with small amounts on them (just under $5 total) and to be honest I'd much rather give it to a charity than mess with trying to spend it at the store. It seems like a trivial amount but I figure it'd be better than nothing. The problem I'm having is finding a cause that will accept less than ten dollars by card. Any ideas?
The recent events in Ferguson and most recently around Eric Garner in NYC where I live have really hit me and I'd like to donate to make a difference. [more inside]
Looking for a place where I can donate a wedding dress in NYC. Worn once (natch), was cleaned after use and has been safely kept in plastic ever since. Designer is Alvina Valenta. Size is probably a 10, 12, or 14. Also has a veil. Purchased at Kleinfeld's; total cost was probably around $3,000. Only issue is that it is from 2006 (sites like Bridal Garden say they'll only accept dresses bought in last 5 years). However, style is very classic (dress is off-white).
My vision plan is flooding me with eyeglasses. Can I get creative with donating glasses to charity? [more inside]
What information is there about how to form a political action committee? What restrictions are there as far as advertising, focus, where the funds wind up, overhead costs, salary for PAC employees, etc? What is allowed federally, and what is allowed on a per-state basis? [more inside]
I recently discovered CASEL, which supports social and emotional learning in schools. This is something I think I really want to support, but I'm more interested in social and emotional learning for a general audience (voters, other Metafilter members, etc.), rather than the young students that are CASEL's focus. Are there any organizations I can donate to or help with that are devoted to cleaning up the messes we made in Afghanistan and Iraq? I keep seeing news of American and allied bombings accidentally killing children and civilians, and it seems like all these require something more than just an "oopsie!" or indifferent silence. Within the last couple of months (and I'm really leaning towards more recently than that) I read an article that said if you're asking for donations to or fundraising for a charity, a little psychological trick is to tell people they don't have to donate. This would make them more likely to actually donate. I could have sworn it was on Lifehacker, but I can't find it anywhere, not even in a general Google search. Can you find it please?
My mother retired and has been making quilts at an amazing pace. She can make all sizes. She also knits and crochets blankets. She has plenty of fabric/yarn, but nobody to give her quilts to. Does anybody know a specific group, WITH CONTACT INFORMATION, that she can donate them to in Maryland, the USA, or internationally?

I've got a '98 Subaru Legacy Outback with 138k miles that I need to get rid of. It runs, but would need a fair amount of work done to continue running for long. It is safe to drive, but I wouldn't want to take it on a long trip. Trying to determine the best option: Selling, donating, or junking. In Philadelphia. [more inside]

What to do with old laptops? I have one 13 year old Dell Latitude, doesn't turn on, probably useless (?) and a 4 or 5 year old Inspiron1505, still works okay, should have utility for someone. I'd like to know how to best dispose of the old one, and best securely wipe/possibly donate the more recent one. Are these appropriate/feasible goals? I have a ceramic drill bit if drilling through hard drives is required, and I live in a city, so I expect I'd have a range of options if things need to be done. Thanks in advance for your help! Any and all replies are appreciated.

Any suggestions for a good food bank or food pantry in the north or west San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles? We're going to see lots of grapefruit and avocado from our trees this year, and I'd like to donate it to needy folks. Google is not a big help.
My wife wants to know if there are any groups in the New York City area that involve school-age children and bicycle mechanics. The point of the question is we have an old Dyno Mooneyes cruiser bike in great shape with a broken rear fender -- it would actually have to be welded to be reconnected. We'd like to donate it, and she thinks some kids might get a kick out of fixing it up, especially if they're into low-rider or other fancy-pants souped-up types of bike. (It's heavy, so she's not into the idea of shipping it anywhere. We're in Westchester.) Thoughts? Suggestions? Recommendations?

A friend of ours is in deep financial (medical- wife died of cancer) trouble. Many friends have pooled money (cash and checks made to cash). What is the best way to give it? We are considering Cashier's check, Visa gift card, etc. Keep in mind, he is very proud, and we're afraid that he will not cash a pile of checks. (Also, avoiding tax implications would be nice.)
I have a fairly new tmobile cell phone, which I hate and want to donate away. After I cancel the account, what do I need to do to the phone before getting rid of it? I have deleted all the contacts and calls/texts information. Is there anything else? I don't know much about how phones store information so please use small words.
