Help me be creative with my old dog's diet.

Our dear girl is 15+ years old, 50lbs, and becoming pickier every day. She just won't eat what we've been giving her anymore, she changes her mind every day, and we know we need to aim for low protein. Most of the time now she turns her nose up at just about everything except people food. We are OK with that, but please help us be creative. [more inside]

Did Purina Beneful make my dog sick?

One of our miniature dachshunds is deathly ill, vomiting and pooping blood. He's at the emergency vet overnight. My husband started feeding our dogs Purina Beneful four days ago and when I did a search to see if there has been any sort of recall I found this page full of people reporting similarly sick dogs. Corn dog

We switched our dogs from a "corn filler" dry food to a high-quality, oft-recommended grain-free food about 8 months ago. I've come to the conclusion that it's not a good choice for Number One Dog. My question is, should we continue to search for a premium dog food that agrees with her, or just go back to the supposedly "bad" food on which she always seemed to be healthy and happy? Delight my dog

With summer here, we need some new recipes for treats that I can stuff into a Kong and freeze. What are some of your (and your dog's) favorites? The best options will be relatively easy to make, totally delicious, and not terribly terribly messy as they melt.

Best food for a large breed dog that's not quite a puppy anymore?

Our dog has started barking at his morning food

Our 8 year old Maltese dog eats twice a day: a main amount at 7:30AM and a smaller amount at 6:30PM. We recently got an automatic feeder so we don't get pawed awake in the morning. For the first few days it was fine, but now he barks at the feeder every morning when the food comes out. Once I go into the kitchen and nudge him near it, he stops barking and eats all his food. At night, with the same food and feeder, he doesn't have an issue. Any ideas?

How can I make the aging process more comfortable for my OES?

My parents' nine year-old Old English Sheepdog is losing muscle in his hips, and having difficulty getting up. Their house also has predominantly wood flooring. I came across Bark'n Boots Grip Trex Dog Boots during a Google search, and noticed one user's comments said they helped his dog's arthritis a great deal- has anyone else had similar success in using rubber-grip Dog Boots to help a large-breed dog experiencing difficulty in getting up? Aside from adding glucosamine supplements to his diet and placing floor mats on his favorite spots, what else can I do?

Yes, I cook for my dog. How can I do it better?

I'd like nutritional advice for homemade dog food and maybe treats, using easy-to-find ingredients. I haven't been able to find high quality commercial dog food where I live, so I make most of her food myself, but I would like to make her homemade food as healthy as I possibly can with the resources I have, which are somewhat limited.
