My dog bites

I adopted Hillary in May. She's a seven or eight year old, ten pound chihuahua-mix. Her former owner died. She was at the shelter for about seven months and was the office dog. She has been to the vet and had bloodwork and x-rays. She has degenerative disc disease and is on Tramadol and Carprofen. Ever since I got her she has had a problem with fear biting. [more inside]

Dog defense in Los Angeles

Good people of MeFi, please tell me anything you can about defending against a plaintiff and animal control after having your dog bite someone. Anecdotes? Love to hear 'em. Attorney recommendations? Love those even more. Getting homeowners insurance affordably after settling a dog bite suit? I'll listen to and consider anything and everything. California and Los Angeles a plus.

If a dog attacks your ankle while you're running...

Attacked by dog, how to get owner to take responsibility?

Help me think straight. I was attacked by a loose German Shepherd while out on a walk with my husband and our two small leashed dogs. What should I do next? The owner is in denial and I am concerned for the safety of myself and others. I think that if I threaten a lawsuit I could scare her into building a fence and reinforcing her door. I'm interested in getting her to take action to keep her dog enclosed or to take it to a behaviorist, not trying to win money in a settlement. [more inside]

Please remove your canine from my hand.

Could this be considered "breed profiling?" I don't care if it is, but I don't want any legal repercussions. [more inside]
