My next door neighbours have a puppy that I believe is being abused and neglected. It breaks my heart to see this. My first instinct is to call the Humanes Society, but I'm not sure if it will result in anything.

Back in 1996, Heather and I visited our friend Jason in Bourne End, northwest of London, and spent a few days in Lynton, in Devon. There was a funicular from Lynton to Lynmouth, and we used to take the train from Lynton down into town and wander around in search of scrumpy.
As we got off the railway, at the mouth of the Lyn, we found ourselves on the west bank of the Lyn, and IIRC there was a building right about there with the best ever Victorian-latinate-lingo "please curb your dog" sign I've ever seen. [more inside]

What is wrong with our dog? He's passing blood again - for the second time in two weeks. He went to the vet a week and a half ago; he had tests and x-rays; he's been on IVs of fluids & antibiotics. It seemed as though he was cured. Then, on Wednesday of this past week, it started up again. [more inside]

I want to attach a small (and waterproof) wireless camera to my mischief-seeking dog's collar and have it send images via the internet every 30 seconds so I can keep an eye on him while at work. He is restricted to an area with a maximum distance of about 200 metres from the wireless router. Ideally I could store and review every photograph over the day. How possible is all of that?

Doggy folk, your best guess about this breed/mix, please? Photos: 1
. She is two years old, weighs around 27 pounds, and is about 17 inches tall. I don't know much more than that. I haven't met the young lady yet, so I can't tell you much about temperament, etc., except she's supposed to be very sweet, loves the loving, not barky. [more inside]

Hive mind, I have a dilemma. I love dogs and have since I was tiny. I long to own a dog the way some women long to have a baby (ick). I haven't had a dog companion since I was a kid, but I now have just about the best lifestyle I think I'm going to have: we own a home, will have a fenced-in yard (as soon as I can get the contractors to finish the fence; soon, I hope), and have plenty of love to lavish on a pup. But I want to provide the very best possible home, so I'm having some trouble with this decision. [more inside]

Opal, our yellow Lab, tore her ACL and it was surgically repaired six weeks ago. The surgery was a success, and Opal is doing great except that she still refuses to use the leg that was operated on. I realize it will take time for her to trust the leg again, but what can we do to encourage her to use it normally? We're afraid the stress on her good leg will lead to another torn ACL. Opal thanks you all.

This afternoon we took our 5 month old Boxer puppy to the local dog park for the first time. She got so excited as we approached, that she pulled and panted and pulled, then clearly fainted. What could be the apparent reason for this? [more inside]

We just got an adorable new puppy. We're ecstatic! The dog, however, seems less enthused... for the past two days, he has done almost nothing but sleep. He has yet to eat anything, and he has no desire to explore our apartment or walk outside. Why is this, and what can we do to help him adjust? [more inside]

WalkingDogFilter: Any experiences with three-dog leashes/couplers? I've seen several options online, but I'm looking for personal recommendations. Dogs are all about 15-20 pounds. Bonus for reducing tangling and/or pulling. Thanks!!!

Dog-gone-paws-filter: I adopted a dog, and she's can't keep her paws to herself. She paws people to get their attention, and constantly jumps on people for the first few minutes of interaction. I've tried the tricks I used to train my other dog (ignoring them when they behave badly, grabbing their paws and scolding "no"), but it doesn't seem to work. Even the "a tired dog is a good dog" method doesn't decrease the pawsy-ness. My friends and family won't have anything to do with her cuz they have muddy-paw-print-on-clothes-phobia. Help! Aside from this one bad habit, she's a Good Dog (TM), and oh-so-eager to meet people.

My US-born dog has a non-ISO compliant microchip (24pethealth). She's just moved to the UK. If she gets lost there, will the RSPCA etc be able to read her chip, or should we get her a new one?
If we need a new one, what happens to the old one? Will this cause complications & confusion? [more inside]

I have a Shih Tzu puppy who is 10 weeks old. An elderly lady I know has an adult Shih Tzu (3 years old) that she is going to have part with due to her and her husband's failing health. She offered to give me the dog. Both dogs are females. Would the two dogs get along? Are there any major concerns I should have? I need to try to make a decision within the next couple of days. Thanks!
