How to deal with the dog who growls too much

My dog is an incredibly vocal dog, in play. He growls like he crazy with humans playing tuggy or rough-housing, with other dogs he meets who he wants to play with or is playing with. It all sounds so fierce but it's not, he's just being playful (he's nearly 3). How do I deal with this on walks, when other dogs don't always figure out the playful part straight away, and other owners who basically call me a liar when I assure them he's friendly? [more inside]

Any pointers about running with Pointers?

My dog is very active. I like to jog long distances. When we run on the lead he pulls and gets distracted by wildlife. Is there a better lead solution? Personal electric fence? How can I get him to run by my side? Must he be condemned to a mostly sedentary lifestyle? He is a Pointer.

Non-Simpsons Animated Shorts

I am trying to track down a cartoon short that played in movie theaters (or possibly just a movie theater in eastern Massachusetts) in the late 80's / early 90's. My memory is very vague, but it seems like it was a Simpsons clone (including a boy with spiked hair), and possibly a rude dog, but I'm not sure if it actually premiered pre-Simpsons. In my memory the boy was voiced by Joshua Miller, but he's not credited for anything like that. Regardless, he had that same kind of sinister/leering voice. [more inside]

House training a dog who dwells in a condo with shared corridors and an elevator...

How can I house break a 6-year-old rescued scent hound when I live in a condo with shared corridors and an elevator? After searching many rescue listings, I have found a cute dog that seems to be a good fit for me according to the adoption counselors. I plan to meet the dog this weekend and take her home early next week if all works as planned. The rescue agency told me that she doesn't like pooping on leash, but will urinate on leash. They think she'll be OK with the shared corridors and elevator. I'm mainly worried that she will make a mess in these common areas as I don't want to upset my neighbors. It is my understand that she will poop in the house at times because she doesn't understanding the concept of pooping on leash. [more inside]
